Johns Beautifully Done Type-III
see more info below
John’s T-3 more affectionately know a Weezer
It's a 1965 Volkswagen squareback 1500S model, built on June 3, 1965. The S means there is an upgrade on the trim package (more chrome) and domed pistons in the engine to create more horsepower. The car was originally purchased and delivered to Frankfurt, Germany according to it's birth certificate which I have. I also have the original owners manual and service booklet for the car. According to the booklet, it had it's last German Service Inspection/Oil Change in Jan. of 1966 at a dealer named RAFFAY& CO. of Hamburg, Germany. (Raffay& co has alot of history behind it. They were one of the two first dealerships to ever recieve a volkswagen to sell on July22, 1946! And they are still in business today!) The next lube service was done at Donaldsons VW in Hicksville, NY (I think that they are still in business) According to the birth certificate the only options put on the car were shoulder belt mounting points ( although the car only came with lap belts), sealed beam headlights, rear red indicator lights and an option code M454 that NO ONE seems to be able to identify.
A friend of mine knew I owned a 1973 sun Beetle and had asked me if I would be intrested in an older VW. I said sure what does he have. "It's a really weird old model but he says it was one of the first ones here in the states". He brought me over to a run down single car garage with no electric and more spider webs than I care to ever see again. Apparently he couldn't get the car to start and was fed up with it. He was moving soon and wanted to get rid of it. He was asking $500, Iwas offering $200. He took $200. I towed it home with my Dad, put a new fuel pump in it and it purred like a kitten.
I have had the car about 8 years now but have only been driving it for 2 1/2 years (the rest of the time was spent working on the car, having kids, buying a house, loosing a job, etc.)
Her name is Weezer. Thats because I've had asthma all my life and when we were kids, my brother called me that once after seeing the character on the Little Rascals show.
Send me photos of your car to have it Featured 6d4vdub@verizon.net
