REPLACE CLUTCH CABLE
« on: March 17, 2008, 10:13:09 pm »

First, remove nut from cable

Next, remove Pre Load tube

If you can't move the pre load tube put vice grips on it and twist till you can remove it from it's bracket
then slide the tube off the cable.

Now remove the pedal cluster and pull the cable out.

Check the hook that the cable goes on and make sure it is in good shape.
The one below is wore very bad and should not be use again in this condition.

Below is how it should look. If it is bad like the one above you can put some weld on it to
build it back up then grind it smoth, or replace it.

now place the cable on the hook and to keep the cable from falling off, use electrical tape to secure it to the hook.
Use a lot of tape and make it tight. The tape won't bother anything and it will brake the first time you use the clutch.

Now taske the pedals and cable to the car and feed the cable back into the tube and bolt the cluster back in place.

When you put the cluster in the car, let the brake pedal return spring lay flat on the floor till you bolt the cluster in place. You can't see it good in the pix below.  After the cluster is in place, put a pice of string around the hook of the return spring and pull it up into place around the nub on the pedal.

Now you slide the pre load tube over the cable then feed the cable and tubr back into its bracket and put the adjusting nut on and adjust your cable.

All done. If you would like me to come over and show anyone how to do it the first just ask.
