Started to strip down The squareback to remove the transmission yesterday. All that's left to do is take off the axle bolts and the rear carrier. Took me close to 15 min. to find the shift rod linkage. ( type ones have an access plate under the rear seat- types 2,3 and 4 have the access cover in the same place but underneath the car. )
Garage is at 20 degrees- put the small heater on and so far it's up to 50. When the trans comes out, I want to powerwash all the crap off it. Hoping for warmer weather, though.

I'm so cheap   cr\yI  can only afford cheap women!

John, great work!  Forget the space heater get a turbo heater

(there are cheaper, but just wanted to give you an idea of what I was talking about)

I have one, no matter how cold it is outside you, like me can make the garage warm enough you have to be in a tee shirt to feel comfortable.... real nice.

why are you taking out the transmission?

Nice day to work in the garage although my tools were still 32 degrees.

Pulled both 36 DRLA Dellorto's off Old Blue.  A job I was dreading. Not an easy task as they go on and off a lot easier when the engine is out.

The driver's side has a clogged circuit. Time for a complete rebuild. In the meantime, I'll be replacing them with a pair of 40's that I rebuild some years ago- I guess I see how well I did.

Perhaps the next warm day. s=un

Matt I think you and I have to have a contest to find out who's cheaper. ( I think it's me) I have one of those turbo heaters, I'm just too cheap to buy the propane!

Trans came out 8 inches so I could change all 3 trans mounts. Changing the mounts was easy, the 4 hours of prep and reassembly was the real pain in the a**.  Just have to bleed the brakes, change the rear trans seal and then the engine can go back in.

Your right Joe- it was a great weekend to wrench on your car. Hope everybody got a chance to.

Following on Bob's, comment a while ago about Bob backfiring, rechecked Bob's carb & rechecked the adjustments & found they were out.  Have no idea why I tuned it so bad after a tuneup, perhaps the choke cable was pulled a bit when I was making adjustments.
He runs great now!....went from 32 horses to 36! We enjoyed a bit of a Sunday drive....

Found a bad switch, bad wire connection and bad timer in the control panel of Mr. Winslow.
Hopefully new switch I ordered will work, re-did the wire, and will need to modify the incoming timer... (I hope that part works out may be tricky  4thinking6)

Hi Jack,

Got the switch in today, it is the switch which determines if the refrig runs  off the battery or not, - This switch will work, so am good there..  dance$#
the timer I am talking about is the timer for the battery to charge from the 120 AC electric plugged into the bus

seen here (mine does not look as good as this refurbished one...

Here is the back of my control panel, the big round item is the timer; I di some labelling for any future reference.

Thanks Jack,
Matt
