Buses by the Depot
« on: October 03, 2010, 03:46:41 pm »

Buses by the Depot turned out to be very nice and the weather was with us. Had to make one detour because of flooding over the roads but nothing major. I think there were 23 buses at the campground and the guys at Bus Depot make everyone feel right at home. The Pot Luck Dinner Sat night had a lot of great food and I stuffed myself. The comradely among the campers was just great and as always Jay had a croud around his camper checking out every thing he did and the Sube engine and because of it he ruined 4 pots of coffee. (long story)

Shawn, Master Cook, did a great making us good food and this morning my Egg MacShawn was so good I could have had 3 of them. A big thanks to Shawn and Tracy for all the hard work making great meals. Jay had a Big pan of Ziti (yum yum) and I had a big pot of Chili, Mark even ate some of my chili, we always eat very good when camping.   Next weekend, Slow Riders.

I got to tell you all that I have never camped before this weekend and as such was worried how it would be. But all the trepidation was for nothing. The only hiccups were that I got stung by a bee & almost put diesel fuel in my ride @ the self service gas station.

It was a excellent time spent with Jack, Jay, Shawn & his wife along with all the other VW people.

I even got merit badges in the form of some way cool decals for my Bus from Jay & Jack.

A way big thumbs up and thanks to Shawn & his wife for the awesome meals they made for us.

Not secret about my aversion/anxiety about city & limited access highway driving but with our CB radios, Shawn in the lead, Jack in front of me & Jay protecting my rear I once again survived the Surekill Expressway & North/ South Crashway. And my Bus performed flawlessly.

Will I do it again??

You bet I will

Couldn't get Jays Van-a-Ru decal... His hatch was always up, showing the transplant

OK for those at the BBtD who wondered what Tracy & I were doing for 45 minutes in the dark with a camera and a flashlight...

Oh-oooo That's what the Freak you were doing? Three bottles of wine later everything was beginning to look blurry as we watched you waving your arms around in the dark with that glow stick in your hands. I seriously was starting to wonder about you and your childish play in the darkness.

It was a good trip with great peeps, and prould of Mark making the trip and navigating the Surkill. Wonder if Mark managed to pry his hands off of the steeringwheel yet.
