OK.. I have about 6K to spend on my new engine..  -MONEY\

I'm looking to get something that pushes 120+ HP, and still has the ability to run with heater box exhaust option. ND can get chilly in the Spring and Fall.. :) 

So, to all the experts out there. I need opinions on the Who & What.

Who is the best builder. GEX / Doghouse, Berg, etc.....
What is the best size / option to get me the power / longevity I seek.

My last Bug had a 1915 with 1.5:1 rockers and dual kadrons.. It was built by a armature pro race shop in idaho and came with the car when I bought it. I loved the power it had, and it ran great, so I'm a bit partial to that style. I'm reading to stay away from Strokers if I don't want to fuss with the thing constantly. Doesn't need to be Turn Key, but preferred. I can always bolt on the Fun stuff later, but I'm a complete beginner when it comes to block / head assembly and rebuilds. So I'll stay clear from that.

 I forget and you didn't mention what style Engine's in your Bus?

 Type1 or is it Type2 aka Type4 pancake engine.. "ohoo wait don't let Jack hear the word pancake or he'll get hungry"

 Then again there's always a Subaru, and your have a BusaRu... dependable and hot water heat, and the option for future AC with plenty of power to spare..

  I would avoid GEX. I have had two. Both had dubious parts and poor workmanship. You can check with the Samba. You will hear horror stories on a lot of the builders.

I sold both the Bus and Bug before I moved to ND...

Not sure I'm ready for the conversion to suburu yet..

Thanks for the heads up on GEX.. I'll certainly check out the Samba, just wanted to see if the experts I trust could steer me in the right direction.
