OK, OK, So I purchased a 2000 Golf TDI. Needed to replace my old Buick. Never thought that getting struts, brakes and some dash lights replaced would be such an ordeal @7@.
Got the struts in and, well maybe do the brakes, Go to the dealer, need the VIN # ( the dealer is in Northfield, and I'm in Tuckerton. I didn't have it with me ??? ... Soo go home and call with the VIN. Ordered the correct brakes, (this car has four diff app. !fright!) Got the brakes an notice the sway arm bushings are shot. Call the dealer (have the VIN this time P#3) Has four diff app for bushings.... Got the bushings installed :icon_cheers:. I also replaced the climate control panel light, (needed to pull apart half the dash to do that, :wallbash:
( Light buld is DIO [Dealer Item Only] ( WTF)Had in stock) Reinstalled the left side of the Dash .. Went for a test ride ( All new front end parts) Drove really nice, But noticed a funny smell.... ??? L/R Brake hanging up... Now what :wallbash:?
Dissembled L/R wheel assy. found alot of corrosiion on the caliper bracket, wire wheeled it up, reassemble, Took for another test ride, P#3 ... Really Nice.... Smelled something funny... Now the right side is hanging up... :wallbash: ( need to do the same thing to it tonight if it does not rain. Also in the meen time I glued the hinge back on to the glove box door, need to find a lost hinge pin, Guess I'll go to the junk yard for that. Today I'm ordering new E-brake cables, Might as well I'm there (they both don't look to healthy) I also replaced the shifter boot and ordered a new arm rest.
I know this was not all done (TODAY) But just thought I would let everybody know where I've been. (love
