Title: 2014 AirRaid & Overhaulin's coming up
Post by: Baha (Shawn) on January 31, 2014, 09:23:16 am
We will be doing and AirRaid at Jack's house in the next few weeks...As soon as his parts come in.

3Gear will bring his 85 Westy to the TajMaGaraj for an Overhaulin' in March

Id like to host an AirRaid in March as well to get the Syncro's springs installed.

The rules stipulate you must participate in 2 to qualify for an event, so if you want to schedule an AirRaid/Overhaulin' of your own this is 3 great opportunities to participate

Dates will be posted soon in the Events section

Woo Hoo, plenty of fun!!!!

I'm planning on the 22nd and 23rd.

On the menu for the weekend is:

Replace the Braking System ( calipers, rotors, soft lines, hard lines, drums, wheel cylinders, shoes)

Replace Fuel System- (New Tank, Pump, Lines, Filter, the rest will already be on the motor)

Install Stainless Steel Coolant Pipes.

Install New Radiator

Install Engine

I already have all the parts for above, and  If all goes well, I should also have new shocks and bushings for the front end...

Sounds like a fun time to me!  How about you?

Wow, everything Marc needs I need done except front brake work, Jay did that already, so by time I get my parts everyone should know what to do on my Vanawent. Marc's Van will be good practice for LoveBustoo.

Oh, I already did the new pump and filter and alternator.

Yea Jack, that list grows fast... it also adds up fast$$$...  bugey--   Makes me appreciate the cost of a bug! And, the bug makes me appreciate the space in a bus!

At least you have gotten to drive your van! In fact the only time I have ever been behind the wheel of a vanagon was when I test drove a syncro in NY when I was looking for my bus!

Im looking forward to wrenching!

I know Marc, the bucks just seem to fly out the window. What do we really save by buying something that needs work. I guess it depends on how much work it needs aand it still never ends.

I just remembered I need to replace the windshield seal, needs body work around it.

1) Just before it goes in for paint, we cut the seals in at a 45 degree angle. It allows us to access the areas to be repaired but still drive it to the paint shop.

2) As for the repair, we clean it an lay a thin coat of Speedgrip panel adhesive. Completely sandable and stronger than steel.

3) Then you go get paint
