Greetings from Orlando... Just saying

I'm sick :-/

My rule of thumb is; if it's 40 degrees or lower I'm not in the garage, heat or no heat. cold-
Kathy car is setting outside the garage with the front wheel off, like some kind of hillbilly homestead. As soon as the temp gets near 50 degrees I'll finish the CV joint boot installation. I have my doubts as to how good the rubber cement will stick at low temperatures. snowplow

Maybe the admin of the SJVWC fakebook page should change the privacy settings of the page so that all can see so those that don't have an account or deleted their account can view the page. It may spark more energy on this site!

Sure it is! On facebook I don't have to hunt down what topic it's under. And I don't have to enlarge the screen to see what I'm typing! Also events created on the facebook page go right to my phone. Instead of clicking on the Callender to see what is coming up.

Fakebook is so MySpace 2009.
-
I looooooove facebook.
-
One of the funnier videos on YouTube is when a guy visits his Fakebook friends to just hang out most of the people he visits have no idea who he is.

Dude, I loved myspace.... before everyone had a fancy background.

Facebook loves you! Facebook loves everyone who has helped them make over 200 billion dollars in a little over 10 years. How you say? How can facebook make so much green, i'm glad you asked. They are data mining ALL facebook users. That means they track your internet activity and key words searches and statistically prepare a spreadsheet for advertisers, investors, employers and potential employers! In essence, they are using you (and your habits) to conduct targeted advertising and investment campaigns. They also help (sell) employers and potential employers the ability to look at your facebook account in depth. (you can not hide anything on facebook from these types of inquiries) Big brother is watching and he is collecting your data and selling it!
Now I'm not saying to stop using Facebook, it's your life you do what you wish.
What I am saying is that the SJVWC Facebook page is clearly effecting the club site... how, it divides us. The posts that were normally here on our website are now on our Facebook page and this makes the SJVWC site not the place for banter...but instead Facebook. So the people who don't access Facebook (because we refuse to be part of a perpetual advertising/mining campaign) are out of the loop.
I fell in love with this site because of the banter (both technical and otherwise) with people that were like minded and enjoyed the VW hobby. This site was always our site, not facebooks, not twitters, not myspaces but www.sjvwc.net . We made the rules and you followed them or you would be scolded by Jack. I just don't see the allure of giving up something special to be part of a mega advertising machine. 4thinking6
In short, I love the Flag* .net 11&*

Very true Celly.
-
Celly should be a politician, or one of those people who drop of religious flyers on my front door!
-
He's so right.
Folks never read the " I agree" clauses and just click away
-
hug WELL SAID Celly 11&* The Banter is definitely fading here and it hurts to see it so. You are right on.
-
Yes, I agree, put nothing on Facebook that will come back and haunt you.

Facebook is still easier then the website. That's why everyone uses it
-
It's 2015. I can't click upload imagine and browse my photo gallery. This site is out dated. I understand nothing's free. No ones going to upload pics if it's hard. It's like work. I post it on Facebook. 500 people can view and get back to me with a response in seconds. I don't care if big brother knows what I'm doing. If your not doing anything illegal what are you scared of?
-
I'll be a true politician, I like both, and then I kissed a baby lol

Disagree about being outdated.
The SJVWC site is a wealth of VW knowledge. Jacks videos are extremely informative and have been viewed by thousands of folks. Some of the threads are also packed with lots of information that answers many questions
I'm not scared of anything.
-
No. The information on this site is priceless. That you can't replace. But not being able to quickly upload pics and videos is a problem.
-
BTW, Fakebook accounts are extremely easy to hack. No real tools needed, just common sense. The entry point is the security question, if you pretend to forget somebody's password or email address.
Questions like " Where were you born?" " What sport do you like? What is your favorite color? should never be answered with the real answer as they are too easy to guess or publically available. All those can be answered with a word that means something only to you like "Rustoleum" etc.
Many sites are linking to your Fakebook password because they want to make it even easier for folks. "Easy" makes it even easier for those with bad intentions.
Didnt Jimmy Fallon or Kimmel just do a bit where he walked up to folks on the street and basicallt got passwords out of them by just asking?
-
Greg is correct about the additional steps. I don't post on Facebook very much, but when I do, it's done in seconds. I can't immagine why there isn't a simple machines app, but hopefully it's in the works. As for the privacy settings, we're as open as we can be
-
Don't care at all for facebook, I agree with others, esp Cellly, This site is THE place! Please don't say loading of pictures is hard work... there is nothing hard about it... a little time consuming maybe, but so what - still can be done, an helps maintain the site. Facebook is maybe a nice complimentary, .........be sad if this site turns into a complimentary of Facebook SJVWC.
