Title: CARBURETOR Adjusting
Post by: 3Gear on September 28, 2007, 09:17:53 am
Hi, Well, I took the carb off yesterday and took it apart again  m-d  and could not find anything wrong, check all the diaphrams, and accelerator pump spring.  I used some brake cleaner and sprayed some though the passages to make sure nothing was blocked and all of them seemed OK. When I put it back on the car I left the top off and filled the bowl with fresh gas. I put it back together and got it to start with a bit o starting fluid.  When it stopped I looked and now I see gas dripping down when I move the throttle  :icon_cheers:  So I got it to run, and do the 5 minute smoke filled break in.  BO**

I did notice that if I let off the throttle it dies, if I press the throttle it dies, so if I do anything other than run it ay 2500 to 3000 rpm's it dies... I move any of the adjustment screws it dies...  didn't I tell you guys a long time ago I really hate messing with carbs....  .///

Anyway it is a step in the right direction, I will be doing the 10 minute run today, and with any luck I can get back to it on Tuesday. My weekend is busy with the little one. And she will be bummed that I am not picking her up in the "cool car"

Oh, Monday  I will not be at the meeting sorry :icon_cry:...  I start my Yoga classes I1t on Monday.

I would love that #@$  I will take a half day and be home by noon unless the morning is better for U...   At lunch today I tried to start the engine just to see, and I could not get it started... It cranked and cranked, but never turned over.  m-d &m& m-d

I am starting to wonder if the gas might be bad????? it was only sitting for 6 months, and I mixed in a gallon of fresh.

Jack,
Hey, I am set for tomorrow, I will be leaving the office tomorrow at noon... Tonight when I get home from class I am goint to drain the gastank, and replace the fuel filter and add fresh gas to the tank and replace the gas in the carb as well.  I tried to get her running yesterday when I got home from the museum with the kiddo, I poured a touch of fresh gas down the carb and it ran great for about 30 secoinds then started sputtering and then quit. So I figure it cant hurs to do what I am going to do.

Also  I had some phone issues a few weeks ago and lost a bunch of phone numbers, yours included, please send it to my email luvgroovesalad@yahoo.com

thanks,
marc

PS and yes the wire to the fuel cut off switch is connected, and I hear the click.... thank you john  &m&  T1, i am a bit sharper than a bowling ball..............  :icon_geek:
