Nice! I have to send the one back that I ordered, they told me that I ordered the wrong part number and it's for a
early model Jetta or Passat. It has 6 holes on top. I have to check the dis number when I get home. Hopefully I will have the same outcome that you did!

If your ordering the distributor from a vw parts place , you shouldn't need the number off the dist. Give them the year, size of the motor and I sometimes give them the engine number (stamped on the engine block below the carb) They can figure out which one you need. They'll have a difficult time trying to match a distributor number.

Call the company with the additional info. Give them your invoice number on the reciept they gave you with the wrong dist. that way they have all your mailing info and your "account" info.
Also when you return the part, include a brief note with all the info and the contact person that you talked to. Include your phone number on the note just in case.

John,

excellent advice!

Just want to add, don't forget to add tracking to your package when you send the part back. I know this sounds stupid but I use the post office for shipping and you would be surprised just how much stuff gets lost. Priority mail isn't very expensive and a tracking sticker is around $.50 more so its worth it.

OK just my...............................  2CENTS
