Jay,
I've talked with both of them at various shows and you are right, great people and
they do some awesome cars!
WELCOME ABOARD Ann & Kurt !
-
Yea the Mezger’s sure have built some nice quick V-Dubs.
Almost as much of a legend as Jack Kessler, and his killer race Bug.
That picture that Jack has hanging above his workbench with his race Bug on the back of the VW single cab transporter is priceless. Today, how many of us would attempt to haul a VW up and down the East Coast in that fashion the way Jack did his race car and crew. Yep simplicity at it’s finest. We need to get some of Jacks old race pics scanned and posted...

Thanks for the kind words ...... flattered! Well except for the part about being a jersey girl. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not from Jersey. I make it a point not to live in a state where they make you pay to leave. ;D

Hey Ann,
I'm sure you don't remember me but we had a nice discussion a couple of years ago at Campbell town, about head liners.. Small world! Welcome aboard!

Delaware - no sales tax & my annual property taxes probably equal what you pay in sales tax alone in 3 weeks time. P#3

Unfortunately I have a terrible time keeping names & faces straight c23 I do however have a good memory for cars ;D

Ann Ok not Jersey but you are from the Delaware Valley, and I know that you and Kurt have burnt up your fair share of the Atco Racetrack. Didn't you relocate to your new shop in Del about 7 years or so ago? Heck the only person in VW racing that uses the word Jersey is Joe... The rest of us are becoming too ashamed to say that we still live in this once nice State! I hate it and will be relocating soon, I have considered Del but for now like many others I'm freaking stuck here as the tax man keeps beating me for more d-s d-s d-s

We've been in DE about 4 years now. Atco is definitely the favorite track, but racing is about the only time you'll hear Kurt admit he's going across the bridge.
Funny you mentionJersey Joe. ;D Kurt gave him that pet name as a way of busting on him & now that's the only way anyone recognizes who he is. You say Joe Koenig - the response is Joe who? You say Jersey Joe & everybody knows you're referring to the guy who has a 10 sec. nitrous breathing street vw.
PS - the tax man is the perfect reason to move to DE. You'll probably hate me for this, but my property taxes are LESS than $600 annual. Lower taxes = more $$$$$ for toys.
:D

OUCH!
$5600 and climbing! m-d2 d-s m-d2 d-s m-d2 d-s

See what I mean - while you have nothing to show for $5600, I've got a bunch of go fast stuff out in the garage. On top of that, there's no sales tax here. Business & income taxes are next to nothing. We're very close to beaches & the bays. It surprises me that more people aren't invading this wonderful tiny state.

Its tough with elderly parents close by and a business dependent on local commerce, you are right except for the garage full of "go fast stuff" for me thats a priority! I keep the garage stocked with projects, how else can I blow off all that steam from paying those taxes! :icon_cheesygrin:
-
I completely understand - it's tough when you have roots planted. Leaving West Chester wasn't the easiest decision for us, but the cost of property & houses up there was getting pretty sick. It just didn't make sense to stay there when I found out how much money we could save if we moved 45 minutes south.
I agree that the projects & toys are a much needed stress therapy.
-
Hey Ann... Surprising Joe's last name is the same as my mothers maden name as your aware it is a unique name so somewhere along the Krout line we must be inbread? c23
Next time I head Deep South into Delaware I'll have to stop by your shop, is it a state law that I carry my shotgun fig2 in the gun rack of my truck?

I went to school at WCU, lovely town. Strict cops. Boy do I miss Burrito Loco, it was about a 3 minute walk from my house. :( Dollar slices from Chris' Pizza and Rigtown and 50 drafts from Jakes...Good Times

50 drafts from Jakes...Good Times
Now that brings back some memories! I remember each bar had a different draft night - I think Jakes was Tuesdays, Alibi's (changed their name to 15 north or something) was Wednesdays & Jitters was Thursdays. If you know WC, then you know there's also a bunch of Lawyers cruising the down town with the WCU kids. One of our favorite pass times was doing a drive by on Iron Hill Brewery (Located on Gay & High St's) with the turbo bug. The exhaust was positioned perfectly to get the sidewalk diners with a face full of race fuel & the noise bounced off the buildings while doing a big smokey burnout! :icon_twisted: :icon_cheesygrin:
-
That isn't very nice Ann!!! That Iron hill can be a ritzy place. My parents use to take me there as a treat after
an Orchestra, or Symphonic Band performance. Their Venison Chili was my favorite. Do you know they took the Rat down because it was causing to much trouble? The CAMPUS had an auction for the Rat sign.
