Title: Pierburg Carbs Good or Bad
Post by: Beetleboi -Greg- on February 20, 2008, 02:31:51 PM
Soo, I've been reading up on carbs on the Samba because pay day is coming fast. I was going to go with the Pierburg. On the Samba they were saying how they started out really bad but fixed them all. I contacted Aircooled.net to see if they still had any instock, and they told me that they stopped selling the carbs. I don't know if they told me this because they are really bad, or if they just want me to not take my bussiness else where. I believe CIP1 still sells the Pierburg.

Please clear this up for me,

Let me know of other brands that are german solexs if you know of anymore.

The adjustment screws have no affect at all on the carb adjustment. It's one of the parts of a car that I would like to know that it's new. Like the tires. It just seems that the are all the same, one person has a bad experience and after that like everyone hates that carb. For example the Mexican Brosal, I've read on Samba to steer clear of it and only go with the German brands.  >:( I'll check out that carb you sent to me through pm.

Kiko, that's actually the Pierberg model =-) That's the same model number I have linked from samba. If it works for you then I'll go with that, but if not... I'm coming after your right rear fender.  >:(

Yeup, try the rebuild, it could save you  d-s  d-s and you learn stuff too. Get a cheap one off samba for off the car practice.

I had no prob with Mex carbs...

Matt

Greg, when you and your dad are here saturday remind me and I'll scrounge up a carb you can rebuild off car.  Once its done just give me your old one if the new one works ok.  Less downtime for bridgette.

I'm gonna buy the new carb, but I'll borrow Jim's to rebuild. I just feel better knowing that it's new.
I'll giving Jim the rebuilt one back for getting my lights and the brakes unlocked that one time.
