Title: Insurance Doubled
Post by: Beetleboi -Greg- on March 06, 2008, 07:22:54 PM
So back in October I was pulled over in Deleware for going with the flow of traffic which was about 10 miles over the speed limit.
My insurance went from 89  to 132 I am  &m& &m& &m& &m& &m& &m& &m& &m& &m& &m& &m&

I really need to purchase a radar detector. I have such bad luck with cops.

*End Rant*

Don't get caught with a radar detector in Delaware. They have a law against them. :police:

"My insurance went from 89  to 132 "

That must be per month on your parent's policy. When my son went on our policy it went up like $1500 a year. He is listed on an 89 Toyota (no collision). We have since - changes companies. Now I added my 'new driver' daughter, and witht he company change the insurance ent up $50.00 (a year).

Cops don't like radar detectors in any state. You think you have bad luck now, get caught with one of them and they'll be doing a "roadside  inspection" of your car.

Write down what your coverage was on your current policy and start calling around or even internet search for qoutes. Alot of places are competitive right now so you might get lucky.

Yea, in January my regular insurance company ( NJ CURE ) gave me a $300.00 bump in my insurance on my daily drivers. after an hour on line and doing searches I was able to save $900.00 a year by switching to AIG. Don't take the first deal they give you, if your driving record is reasonably clean you might save a bundle.

Radar detectors, "don't leave home without one"! Mine is on constantly. Its not a license to speed but at least I get some kind of warning about the cop hiding in the bushes.  :police:

Just make sure it has the anti-detector detector with the stealth feature or else the cops can detect your detector and still get you.

I got pulled over in Waterford and tried to pay the ticket online, but it said I couldn't.  So I mailed it in and yesterday they sent my check back and said I'm required to show up.  Show up so I can pay the ticket?  They had my money and didn't want it.  If they don't want money, do they take chickens?

Bob my parents have AIG I'm going to have to call them. They've had them for a while. When I did my insurance research, a lot of places didn't have info for cars past 85 on the website. As for the radar detector, I heard about the radar detector detector thing. If Jack says they are legal then I'm golden. I use to have a
black light attached to my window, and whenever I saw a cop I would yank it down. Taking chickens instead of money? There was a musical called best little w*@#$house in texas. They accept chickens instead of money.
Mike my bug is under my name, but my parents are keeping my Corolla under their name... probably not for much longer since I got pulled over. Have to fight that ticket March 19th.

Make a donation -get a card or a sticker to put on your car- if you get pulled over, they look at you a little more favorably.

LMAO I thought it stood for Friend of Police card.  :o

I called esurance.com and the gave me a company where the rate that was 20 dollars off.

Still progressive but it wasn't direct or something like that. so now I pay 114 instead of 132 or whatever.

They also told me that if I take a defensive drivers course my insurance will go down 10 15 percent.  :)

Might be something to think about being that I make only 9.75 an hour.  :o :o :o :o :o

So I went to court. My ticket for the third brake light being out was dismissed and they gave me a no
point ticket. Just a warning... if you speed you will have to pay a 250 sur charge on top of how much
your ticket cost. All togather I have to pay 370. Which isn't too bad, I heard some people left the court
room having to pay 500.  >:(

Yea, the state is supposed to be broke, look at it as a "tax payment". Another donation to our good gov "Uncle Johns" pension fund! Gotta keep all those legislators & friends in retirement money!!!!!!!

When I went to pay my fine last week a guy came out of court and said he had to pay $500 for tossing a cigarette butt out his window.  He should have used his ashtray.

Stealth mode.. ha ha good one John. With gas prices, poor paying job, I think I'm going to live in the woods and hunt animals with my bare hands. I just got a jury duty notice... I didn't know it was for 10 weeks. That's 10 days that I won't be able to work.  >:(
