Ok Boys and Girls- time for another stupid game with a lesson attached! See who can guess what these are-
Board members are not allowed to answer for the first 24hrs. (ha ha!)
Easy, and the one on the right looks like it was doing it's job and I won't answer.
Whatever that is looks like it wasn't lined up right, the center looks rounded off on the one on the left. *shug* Just a guess.
Looks like shop manual for a T3 VW.....
With vw engine "thermostats" sitting on top of it.
Oil gally plugs ??? compressed push rod tubes ???thermostats

YES! We have a winner!
I'm finishing up some of my winter work on weezer and as I went to check the trans fluid I noticed it was low. So i figured I was going to buy some gear oil anyway, I might as well change all the fluid. The two plugs in the photo are the bottom ones- not to be confused with the side one where you check the fluid. The two magnets collect any shavings (kinda like the one for your oil) so you don't have anything sloshing around in there.
So the plugs were cleaned and the new fluid is going in tommorrow. In the mean time, I was wondering- How many members are probably still driving around with the same gear oil that VW put in it? s#r
Another stupid game coming soon!
I liked your stupid game, banaafro bring on another one. I think I'll do one.
<---- Still driving around with the original gear oil. I over slept the day I was suppose to go to Jacks to use his oil pump. >:(
OK folks- now this should be an easy one- but I want the correct name for it, not the slang term!
Remmember- you old timers can't answer for 24 hours!

Rear axle oil slinger

We have a half winner! ( look at the question- oil slinger is the slang version. Germans don't have a name for slinger- it's an oil collector!)
This piece goes on an early rear axle and it sits inside your brake drum. The long tube went through a hole in your brake drum. If axle fluid leaked out of your seals, the round part would catch it , centrifical force would "sling it " to the out side of the round part where it would run through the tube and out of your brake drum. You never had to worry about a leaking seal dumping oil on your drums while your doing 50 mph around a turn. Pretty smart huh?
Another game coming soon!
