Title: NOPI Drags & Event Schedules.
Post by: Bugaru "JAY" on April 09, 2008, 08:43:34 PM
Not sure how many of you guys have ever attended one of these events. The event is broken down into several categories. Drag racing, show cars, and the NOPI Chics etc.. Some of these rice burners are really quick, not to mention the show cars with all of there bling and car after car with lambo doors  :icon_puke_r:. I have seen several V-Dubs win the burnout contest. Also a few VW racers from the Tri-State area usually attend. When the sun sets things change and the volume goes up  and time for us elderly to head home and call it a day. If you go don’t stare or you may need glasses c23

Note the events are pricey d-s, not sure if it will be as big of a hit with the  d-s falling gas prices etc, not to mention the chill factor who the hell picked this date? Also not sure if I’ll attend it this year or if I’ll get one of my cars show ready in time?  drive&&

NOPI Event Schedule…

Holy Crap this event is getting earlier each year, it’s normally held in Summer when it’s hot and now is scheduled for the end of April. Not good for the swim suit enthusiast.

By the way, there is good bucks in several Race categories to be claimed.

Guys,

the 26th is Campbell town I'll be real short in the  d-s d-s department after that show. I usually stock up on stuff at the flea market, besides the it will still be too cold for the Nopi chicks to flash their thongs! I can watch it on speed vision late at night after the "Fun Police" has gone to bed!  .///   (http://skins.hotbar.com/skins/mailskins/em/google_emoticons/emoti_147.gif)

Hey the NOPI events are cool events, but even though the track and event is only about 2 miles from my home I doubt that I’ll attend or compete. Just too many things to complete yet and build problems to resolve, besides that Bob-ba-Lu-e is right unless we get a early hot Sunday, it’s just too chilly for sight seeing.  c23

I have no idea why the Atco event is so early this year and I believe that it will truly hurt the attendance? Strange thing is that I noticed on the NOPI events calendar that there are two shows at the Maryland International Raceway this year. Strange because this is a National tour, the good news is that if you miss one of the East Coast NOPI events, your have other chances as the weather heats up.  http://www.mirdrag.com/v2/directions/

So I’m thinking of attending one of them instead of the Wacko event. I know it’s stupid, seeing that I would only have to travel 4 miles round trip instead of 400 miles. Maybe I ought to think this one out better?  s#r

ever wonder why Punch Buggy is ALWAYS on the hottest weekends? an event for Air Cooled Cars?? Possibly they can't sell it to the guys who race BIG cars ?  m-d
Punch Buggy would be so much better in the spring or on a cool fall day!

Yea-aaaa Bob your right, they ought to swap the dates around that would make everyone happy  :clipboard_50x50:

I was talking to one of my boys last night and he's trying to talk me into going? Looks like I'll be wrenching, and painting my bunns off to try to make the Wacko Show time will tell.

It's Show Time..  (love

Ok Guys, I managed to pull my 56 Oval together enough to make the NOPI Show. The weather was iffy, but the car gods held the rain off for the better part of the two day event with no real rain.  gl6

I manged to pull off a Win and Best of Show. A nice NOPI Trophy, and fist full of Bucks. Not bad for the 1st time out with this set of wheels. The car's running good, and the turbo wines like a hooker wanting to be laid.  shocked By the way the car really screams.  burnrubber

Jack it was really chilly, and the headlights were out. You would have loved it.

Attached is a YouTube Video of my car running while still in the shop. This Baby really gets.

HOLY S@#T ! I've seen the future!!!
Damn Jay thats some sweet noise coming from the back of that car! When its ready for the street I'd love to see that one at a couple of local car shows, I can see the guys in the Mustangs shaking in their boots!

Congrats! its good that somebody besides SJVWC recognizes a great car when they see it! Those turbos have a sound all their own.. You are making me rethink VWs !

Wow that fits like a glove in there!!! It's probably one of the cleanest set ups I've seen for the subaru in a bug. I'm sure it sounds a lot better in person! Now I re-thinking my 1600 - 1776 swap.  ::)

Thanks Bob.
The car is now on the Street, although I doubt that I'll run this one on the quarter mile like my other Bugaru. I've just got to much  d-s into this car to race it and can't afford to fix it if I break it just trying to prove something to some mustang. The NOPI judges were stumped with the amount of detail into all areas of the build. They were from the Deep South, and as they were walking away turned and said WoW they "Build Cars like this in Jerzeeee"   s#r

Jay,

Do you think you can make a couple of local shows with this one ? I'm thinking of the Collingswood May Fair, think its May 25th. Its a street show and a good one . I can tell you that car would be a big hit since nothing like it has ever been seen there. The "Old Goats Club" run that one and last year we snagged 5 trophys out of 7 cars. The goat guys were very interested in our cars and we will be making plans to do that one again as a group. I'd like to see that Bugaru showcased at that one. Also think about Merchantville again nothing like it has ever been seen at that one. And I don't have to mention the VW shows ! Dust off the trophy shelf, I think its going to get a workout!

Jay if you make some of the shows Bob is talking about, Park that POS next to Bob and not me. I don't want your car to look bad next to Black Beauty.

Bob I'm still trying to convince Dean from H-VW to attend Punch Buggy day for our club etc. If he can't attend, I'll be headed to Manassas on the weekend of the 25th to hopefully meet up with him there.  I1t
