Title: Getting Caught In The Rain Gave Me An Idea
Post by: scarecrow on June 15, 2008, 08:02:23 PM
OK here’s the starting point. Will round off lower corners of deck lid to match contours better. Now here’s the tricky part. I’m going to cut an opening & French it in so that my upper light bar will be seen & usable. weldface

If your going to open it up, why cover it at all? You can make these motors waterproof.

Water dosent seem to hurt mine, and I have not done anything special to waterproof it. Although I have the fiberglass baja air foil / scoop/ whatever the hell it is called...   I did purchase the waterproof covers for the dizzy an coil, but have never used them, in fact my motor ran like a champ covered in snow and ice as well, it did sputter a bit from the gas freezing up, but that was my fault for not using a preheater...  I don't even have the plastic generator covers on either.

Anyway, do it cuz u want to, your motor dosent need the coverage....  BTY it does look cool, it will look very nice when it is the same color as the rest.  If you are interested in the waterproof covers I am not using you can have them 4 free...

Cheers,
MArc

I like the look, but I think I would make it even with the fenders or start the cut at the fenders and and go down like a U.

Just in from the garage, did exactly that plus I cut out a section in the deck lid to reveal my upper light bar. Tomorrow night I'm gonna work on boxing/Frenching in that opening weldface As much as I like the open back end I have to admit that it looks much better with the Bobbed deck lid.

Many thanks for the offer #@$ but she ran just fine in the rain. Just want to try something different 184      I can always go back to the way it was.
