Title: my high top camper
Post by: skymath on July 16, 2008, 03:06:25 pm
Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could get info on where my high-top camper came from?  All the campers I've seen had some form of a pop-up roof and I think my built-in high roof is just super groovy.  You can stand up inside without doing anything, it's got lots of storage for all my crap (as Jack can attest--you ain't seen nothin yet--wait til I haul around my entire library of math books everywhere I go... :) )

anyway, as I understand several different companies built different kinds of campers..  how do I know where my beauty came from?

thanks!

Sky

thanks for the link Jack.  somewhere in there I found a link to a site where you can order a "birth certificate" which lists things like date manufactured and original colors and options.  I wonder if they'd list the high-top camper options..?  might be worth the 35 euros just to have it framed in the bus :)

oooh I think I've got some more info..  it appears I might have an Adventurewagen camper.  there's a picture of a 1971 Adventurewagen on this page: http://www.sandiegoclassicvolkswagen.com/Gallery.html all the way at the bottom.  it looks just like my camper if my camper were new!

yay now I can tell people what it's called :)  not a westy...

The top on your Bus is way cool  P#3 I'm starting to realy dig these Buses. I can see it know. Go to a show and after looking at everything for a couple of hours, eat lunch and them take a  &&&&. They just seem so warm, cozy & inviting on the inside.  :icon_flower: Only problem is that in the other half of my garage is the Jeep I'm doing. stoned#

Did you buy that bus in Blackwood by any chance? I think I looked at one exactly like that with the high top a year or two ago...

I did buy it in Blackwood.  You probably looked at my bus  :)

scarecrow: you should ask God for your perfect bus.  I had a '78 bus that I never got to drive because I didn't have my license and it was at my friend's apartment and ended up being impounded, and they wouldn't give it back to me because it wasn't registered (because I thought I couldn't get insurance without a license--which is not true) ...anyway I was pining for my lost bus one day, and started thinking about the power of positive thinking, and remembered that when I found the 78 bus what I'd really wanted was a 71 camper... (the 78 was a gorgeous bus but I wanted a camper.  I forget why I wanted a 71 but that was what was in my head) ..so I went to my alpha level (a state of relaxed awareness where you're more in touch with the higher consciousness) and asked the Universe to somehow deliver to me a 1971 camper that would be in good enough shape that I would only need to do minor maintenance to keep it going strong.

less than ten minutes later a friend of mine called me out of the blue and said "hey I just wanted to let you know I saw an old VW bus for sale.  it's a 71 and it looks like it's in pretty good shape." I said "are you serious?" she said, "Yeah, actually it's a camper."  ..that was a Monday.  I bought it that Friday.  my friend had no idea I was interested in getting another bus (I'm not even sure she knew I'd ever owned one), she just saw at and thought I'd get a kick out of it.  True story...

if you want to know more about the alpha level and the power of your mind, go to www.americanmonk.com or www.silvaultramindsystems.com  both these sites have a free online course complete with mp3s to help train you to go to the alpha level (a state of mind where your brain produces mostly alpha waves, production of beta waves is reduced--leads to greater focus, greater intuitive abilities, greater creativity, increased ability to affect the outer world with your mind)

I don't think so.  The topic is "my high top camper".  I acquired my high top camper in part through the use of the silva method; hence, it's on-topic :)

Sky, I go into a state of relaxed awareness every day around this time... in fact I'm going to go do it now. Ahhh maybe its a state of unawareness.

hehehe you guys are awesome.  not that kind of relaxed awareness..  this one's healthier :)

of course, the Silva method, awesome as it is, is like the kindergarten level; if you want the college level, check out www.falundafa.org.  it's deep and profound

Sky, dude, seriously with all due respect your scaring me mmmm However if I take the theories you put forth and customize them to suit my own paradigm, it becomes a combination of synchronicity and Erica Jung’s thoughts on ‘Wish Becomes Will”  Of course this now gives rise to the unaccredited caveat that one must be careful what they wish for. All this aside, I did pray to the Hot Rod Gods of Big Ed Daddy Roth and Von Dutch for guidance. Sometime thereafter I was visited by the vision of a short wheel base mid sixties Ford Econoline Van with a 200 CI six cylinder with a two speed auto 184 Well that’s more than enough deep thinking for me. I’m going to go have a beer along with a double Bourbon and watch reruns of Grocho Marx’s “You Bet Your Life”  :clipboard_50x50:

don't be scared.  it's cool.  at least as cool as your thoughts anyway...

have you seen the movie "the secret"? it's a kind of hokey movie, which is a shame, because the principle it's expounding is absolutely valid.  It's called "the law of attraction" and in short it says that there's vibrational frequencies to everything in the universe, and these frequencies interact sympathetically and  harmonically just like sound frequencies.  so if you think about something a lot, it tends to bring that something into your life.  the "vibes" of your thoughts interact with every other bit of energy in the universe, and things start "coincidentally" working out along the lines of what you were thinking.

when you're at the alpha level, your brain waves are regular (not chaotic like at the beta level, the normal waking state of consciousness); you're more focused, and so the thoughts you're putting out are more focused and thus have a greater impact on the world

if you think that this is all new age-y nonsense, I caution you: I'm a mathematician.  the essence of my job is to show the logical results of given assumptions, and to always test assumptions and see whether they can be reduced or eliminated.  it's a HUGE assumption that the world consists only of what we can perceive with our senses...  we all interact with radio waves every day, but they can be "seen" only because we mathematically know how to interact with them (ie setting up an antenna, tuning it such, etc) ...I've been working for several years on a problem related to this concept of the energetic interactions between all things...

and before anyone worries about being off-topic: these are the things I think about in "my high top camper"  :) :) :)

I know this is sooooooooooooooo way off topic

.  It's called "the law of attraction" and in short it says that there's vibrational frequencies to everything in the universe, and these frequencies interact sympathetically and  harmonically just like sound frequencies.  so if you think about something a lot, it tends to bring that something into your life.

the "vibes" of your thoughts interact with every other bit of energy in the universe, and things start "coincidentally" working out along the lines of what you were thinking.

when you're at the alpha level, your brain waves are regular (not chaotic like at the beta level, the normal waking state of consciousness); you're more focused, and so the thoughts you're putting out are more focused and thus have a greater impact on the world

and before anyone worries about being off-topic: these are the things I think about in "my high top camper"  :) :) :)

One of my hobbies is theoretical physics, especially relativity & quantum mechanics. Also stat.s cause I like to know what the numbers REALLY MEAN.

I would love to talk about this.

there's vibrational frequencies to everything in the universe,

Just light and sound, ........not the biggest force, gravity, nor anything at the quantum level,  which is everything at the atomic scale and "below" - well actually, that includes photons and some mediums used for transmission of "sound waves" - so light and sound waves are in question at the quantum level

and these frequencies interact sympathetically and  harmonically just like sound frequencies,

I think they waves you are thinking of also work to negate each other, - the trough effect

My background is in neurophysiology, the nervous system,
( but would have been happeir as a vw mechanic! too late!)

when you're at the alpha level, your brain waves are regular (not chaotic like at the beta level, the normal waking state of consciousness); you're more focused

Actually when you are in the beta state, your mind is more focused and determined, and beta state is not really chaotic just higer frequency. Chaotic  = amt  varation around the mean, looking at alpha waves, they seem to be more chaotic than beta waves.  http://www.web-us.com/brainwavesfunction.htm

so the thoughts you're putting out ....
you would have to prove to me the thought-energy you are putting out is measureably over/beyond what energy our bodies normally put out (heat, water, etc)

the "vibes" of your thoughts interact with every other bit of energy in the universe, and things start "coincidentally" working out along the lines of what you were thinking.

again, I think you are not considering the trough effects, your thougts would be like dropping a peice of a grain of sand in the ocean and say it has an influence. Neat  & fun saying ,but the wind from a butterflys wing does not change worldwide weather.

it's a HUGE assumption that the world consists only of what we can perceive with our senses

Absolutley true. Red, green , blue etc, does not exist, neither does sweet, sour,  etc, nor does sound , hot or cold exists outside of our senses

so if you think about something a lot, it tends to bring that something into your life.

your brain waves are regular (not chaotic like at the beta level, the normal waking state of consciousness); you're more focused, and so the thoughts you're putting out are more focused and thus have a greater impact on the world

These are New Age ideas.  Always wonder why New Age ideas are not declared as being "New Age" ?

We should talk at next year picnic, out of ear range of the other members, otherwise the club members would kill us.

Cheers,

Matt

Matt, I like that... It sounds so Japanese.

s#r Does a butterfly’s wings create a wind or a gentle breeze? Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Excuse me, I have to go and  meditate about that.  hummmmm.

I should pick up one of those tools, I bet it is handy.
In the future whenever one of my brakelines go, I want to replace it with stainless steel, cause I plan on having my bugs...well, forever.  ( At least my daughters do).
I've seen one in a hardware store the other day, noticed it had different holes sizes in the tool.
Is there a particular size I should get for a bug?  I dont know anything about these tools..

Oh and sky oil pressure switch

omg I'd forgotten already!  ack.

but I can't order anything for a few more days cause I thought my wallet was stolen and cancelled my visa card.  found my wallet under some crap.  whoops.  ..the bank says it takes 5-7 days to get me my card, but they can get it overnight for $16...  grrr..  actually now that I think about it in a calmer mood, it probably costs nearly that much just to overnight it.  so maybe they're not taking advantage of the misfortunate (or in my case, merely foolish) as much as I thought...

hey anyone want to help me adjust my brakes?  apparently you're not supposed to move the pedal halfway down before it engages.  who knew?  and apparently when it engages it's not supposed to make a dull thunk-thunk-thunking sound.  well that much I knew :)

ah, halfway down aint nothing to worry 'bout, why back in my day, Brak-pedal to the floor were the norm, and ya eventuall stop - but  by that time you be yankin on that emergency brake perty hard. - Another bug workout moment!

always make sure yer emergence brake cable & rear drum was well adjusted.

I know I'm a little late to this topic, but if I can get it back on track...Westfalia never made hi-top campers that I know of.  Those were all aftermarket conversions:  Adventurewagen, Safare, and Dormobile.  Westfalia got their camper busses shipped to them directly from the factory; the others I'm not sure of.  You do indeed appear to have an Adventurewagen.  I've attached a few pics posted by theSamba member:  Adventurewagen.  If you do a in search the gallery for him you can see all his pics.
