Title: Just a Reminder...
Post by: Beetleboi -Greg- on October 17, 2008, 12:55:53 am
Get that dang extinguisher OUT OF THE TRUNK and put it somewhere easy to get to in the cabin. ALSO Do NOT touch the latch with your fingers because it will be hot.

This chit is scary, I'm the type of person who would panic, and run around panicking before doing something.

When it comes down to it, your bug is replaceable... you ARE NOT.

P.S. this page came up while researching the 2010 model VW Beetle

Got mine right under the front of my seat. - Can grab it quick!

Why in the world is the trunk hood open?

To let passerbys know he broke down?

Matt that person probably had their extinguister in trunk , by the time the person found it underneath the milky way wrappers and soda cans it was to late.  :'(  I just noticed the trailer hitch, must have saved the camper before going to  the trunk to get the extinguisher.

Shawn, that sounds like a good idea, though it seems like would be difficult to run a pull line from the back. Jack was checking out this automatic extinguisher, from what I understand, once the chemicals inside get hot enough it bursts and sprays down the motor. Though, since our motors run hotter than average motors it's hard to tell if it would burst w/o there being a fire. When adding oil the other day, there was a leaf resting on my coil right at the wire connections... I thought gees if I didn't add oil and didn't see that leaf, one spark would have caught that leaf on fire.  ::) I still love my standoffs even though it lets chit in. I'm tired of ppl telling my that my "trunk" is open.

There was a long thread about this a while back and guess who started it, Greg.  http://http://sjvwc.net/forums/index.php/topic,3804.0.html (http://sjvwc.net/forums/index.php/topic,3804.0.html)

Take a look at the decklid...It's got extinguisher powder all over it.  .##

The gas tank being gravity fed to rear of car is keeping the fire alive. One good thing about the Baja is there is a fuel shutoff

Make sure you put these guys in your cell phones... by the time they get there the vehicle will be ash!

I'll tell you what...for $300 it's well worth it. A foam system that's user rechargeable! Not that you want to need it twice...

I'm puttin this on my wish list

Because you don't always know when a fire has started I like the automatic ones posted in the last thread.
