No Problem Replacing the Pans, etc. Just get Jack and Patrick to replace them for you and while there at it ask them to replace the Farmehead too. Then you can sell it and make some bucks and forget about those that took their time and talent to rebuild a car for you.

Hey it actually happens!  !fright!

Or like any of us do it yourself and build the car of your dreams.   (love

Thanks for the post Jay.

Yea-aaaa it's a decent price, but be perpared to put alot more into it. But if you have the desire, the time and the talent, it could be a nice ride when finished. You need to make a decision if you want to build a car into something special and have the resorces to do so, cash on hand, an indoor space to wrench, etc. The price is probably somewhat neg but even at that I see another few grand needed to make this thing a runner.   shocked

If your going to attempt a build please try to do the car justice and do it correctly as it's not always what meets the eye that challenges us in life.  gifsawsall

As like many of us, I'm all about building a Different kind of VDub. What I mean is that these cars are getting very hard to find, so if your going to undertake the challenge we only ask that you stick with it and build it into what suits your dreams, and vision. If you need help that's what we'll here for. The problem is what we don't always see is the endless line of UPS trucks coming down the road, thus   d-s d-s d-s so sometimes it's a good idea to weigh things out. Meaning a good project car, vers a soild running car that needs some updates, customizing etc to get it on the road and a  vwlogo driver. In todays time there are some very good deals out there.

  Jay ,
There are alot of deals out there , and maybe better ones to come along . But most of them are not selling . As you know i have been keeping my eyes open . I talked to the fella with the 67 in browns mills , that car is in vary bad shape and he wants alot of money for the condition it's in . I did find a 69 that runs with a little rust for 500.00 so i bought it . And one of my old friends gave me my old 67  back but it's in very bad shape .
So putting out a few bucks for a slidder rag top is not a problem , even just to hold on to it for a bit .
I see some for Rags for sale in all price ranges and nothing is selling ?

Not sure what your exactly looking for but heres a quick idea for you. Try placing a Wanted add on our board for what floats your VDub Boat  s#r never know maybe someone knows of a car, or someone knows someone that knows someone who just might have what your looking for. Hey it can't hurt? Besides that many of our cars are imported from out of the area, as most of the forsale cars around here are Rusty Buckets.   weldface

I think what jay might be getting at (really the point I would like to make) is that this rag top has potential to be a nice car. If someone was to buy it "thinking" they would fix it up, it would be a crime to hack it up, dismantle everything and then just lose intrest in it. Take it from someone who is doing one right now- restorations, even if they are customizations- take alot of time and commitment to do right. Your looking at sinking in some major cash, so go into it with the drive to finish what could be a sweet ride.

I'd offer her $750- if the motor is trashed, that's some bucks. You can find a running one  for less on the samba

Hey John ,
Yeah i thought about the hacking part if the motor is no good then it wouldn't really make a difference unless it was rebuildable .Right ?
Also most of the cars on Samba are out west and that would add to the price with shipping ,witch would bring up the cost of the car .
thanks Joe

I rebuilt the stock motor on the 60 beetle for about $650 but I did all the work myself. If the body of the car is in good shape, then it's a good candidate for a rebuild. There are plenty of donor motors available.
