I'm thinking about getting digital gauges... but they cost  d-s d-s d-s d-s d-s I really only want a tach the rest of the gauges I can do without, but I want to create a light panel for the seat belt, oil, and altenator, besides the one one that is on the speedo. Kinda like the 89 mini van we had. Cept I think it had like 50 things like ash tray open door open seat belts turbo flame thrower etc.  P#3 I might just add random things like a 4x4 dummy button and a "Turbo" button maybe the turbo button can control the w/s washer.

I'll help you build the panel. What do you want it to look like?

it will be where the fasten seatbelt sign is, but it will have at least 2 more bars of equal length. That will say  OIL ALT. etc. and then I will put a colored bulb behind it so whenever one of those lights comes on it will light up the panel. OR I'm just going to use transparent paint and spray strips of plastic. I'll draw it up in paint. Give me a sec...

The way dash lights work is colored plastic is silkscreened (Hmmmm...Bob?) with black ink in reverse. The light shines through the plastic and not the ink. There are ways to produce this effect with paint & vinyl letters and even a laser printer on transparency material

I was thinking about small hobby shop decals like that you would put on your pine wood derby car back in boy scouts.

yeah I wonder how small those letters are. My hood and head lights are my next project. I'm going french on the headlights, I know it's illegal but I'll just play dumb if I get pulled over.  ::)

I love the yellow headlight look. I looked it up and you can use transparent paint, I've seen a couple cars driving around with yellow headlights. It's been a while since I've seen a  :police: anyway.

LoL LoL LoL LoL LoL

You could use 1/8" strips of acrylic window glazing from Home Depot. You can cut 1 strip to size and paint the back with transparent "model car" paint and on the front just stick the transfer lettering. Cut another strip exactly the same size and cover the first strip with it. You could tape the edges or possibly glue the edges ( as long as the glue doesn't get between the two strips ). I've seen this done on a few kit cars and it works out very good.
