S@Sm I'm becoming addicted to Ebay, I just bid on my Christmas Present to myself because i couldn't pass up such a great deal. If I loose I'm going to be mad m-d . The thing with electronics is you never know if they are stolen or not, but the sellers has great reviews and has been around a while. We'll see. If I win this bid I promise I will take it easy on Ebay, Im still waiting on my deer jerky. m-d

NEED I SAY MORE S@Sm
Greg: Did you win? I lost a Nikon digital camera by $5.00 in the last two minutes of the auction. I like the feel of the Nikon's, I have two 35mm with ALL the lenses etc. they are film cameras and the lenses won't fit the digitals.
Funny in my basement I still have all my darkroom equipment can't seem to part with it.
A few months back I bought a negative/slide transfer unit so I can download all the old black and white plus color 35mm film to my computer then make DVD's.
Good luck with your bidding.
Bud I ended up tying my bid with the other guy, but he bid first so I guess he won. I was bidding on a Canon xti digital rebel. I think I'm going to go with a Film SLR instead, they are cheaper the only downside I see is getting the the film and not being able to see your shot until you develop the film. I might just buy a body and get the lens later. I'd really like a Nikon D40 or a D60. Since the camera will be an upgraded pleasure camera I don't feel the need for the 10 mega pixels of some of the SLRs, I'm not going to be blowing things up any bigger than 8x10.
My original intention was to use the tax return next year and some of my check for a camera, but since my point and shoot of 6 years died I'm going through withdrawal, so I'm buying myself an early christmas present.
Bud which unit did you buy for scanning the film and the slides? I was looking into that for myself. Mom and dad have TONS of slides. There are some nice pictures of my family that passed on slides that would be nice to make digital and/or print out.
I bought the Stratford Labs Digital Image Copier # GFP-001 for $99.00 but you can go online and find them cheaper now "I think". They will do 35mm color, black and white film
plus slides.
Before you think about buying a 35mm film camera, better find out where you can get the film developed and where you can get your camera repaired.
I have used Classic Camera they have always treated me very good, BUT they don't develop film. Just a word of warning "ain't like the old days".
Check out all the ads in the newspapers, there are a lot of digital cameras out there at very good prices. (I didn't want one, but the family didn't know what to buy me for Christmas .///)
Now I can order all the parts for the bus I want dancbanana
Bud i ended up getting a Nikon D40 body with tripod lens cleaner for 283. ill pick up the lens and memory card on payday. Some of my friends told me about the film developing too and the cost of film and developing will start adding up. d-s d-s d-s 2CENTS
So i researched the shop i bought the camera from, broadwayphoto, and found out that a lot o people were being scammed. soooo i called my credit card company and told them. They cancelled my card and are sending one with a new number. You cant trust anyone these days, the price was too good to be true...
Maybe ill just suck it up and get it from amazon.com at the higher price. Ritzs prices are rediculous. >:(
Why not BestBuys or Circuit City??
Best Buy and Circuit City at this time year... are u nuts!
Greg: I have to agree with Jack. All the big "box" stores like them and Wal-Mart are competing against each other, you just have to keep your eyes on their sale papers.
Plus you can get a hands on feel and see if it fits your needs, plus no shipping.
I've bought from broadway before without issue but they are hit or miss.
Check out Abes of Maine (http://www.abesofmaine.com/), I just bought the wifes Cannon G10 from there at a great deal.
Or you can go to refurb depot (www.refurbdepot.com) I got a good deal on a D70 there a few years ago.
If you know someone that works for Canon they just released their Christmas catalog to their employees. They get Re-furbs at cost. That's how we got the wife hers for half price
My mom had a friend that worked for Canon but she's retired now. I think I'm going to Circuit City to buy the camera. You guys brought up a good point about the shipping, and I may be able to spilt up the payment if i need to. ;D

Check a few of those links I sent you first. I have never found anything cheaper at CC or Best Buy than I could at some of the online retailers. There's almost always a better deal, even with the shipping, than those 2 offer.
Circuit City is 450 the cheaper of the two links is about 444ish so it just makes sense to get it at CC.

I know =-/ I'm a hypocrite.
Greg: You can call T&F in Vineland and tell them what you are looking for and the budget you have to spend. 3 1/2 % sales tax. Even their used cameras a gone over and are as good as new. I bought all my Nikon lenses from them over the years.
They aren't cheap, but if and when you need service- no hassle.
Only my 2CENTS
Just realized that the Nikon Bag and Strap match my car... I think it's a sign! Also the deer jerky is good, I remember it being more gamey. Maybe it depends on the age of the deer... oh well it's good and there's plenty of it.
Thanks to those who helped me with my camera purchase. =-)
To many bells and whistles! Lots to learn, going to look for an online class on digital photography.
Sorry it was to late for Bug shots, but Nemo II was feeling kinda photogenic.
