Title: Which Way Clockwise or Anticlockwise
Post by: scarecrow on December 14, 2008, 08:45:32 PM
Simple question but I don't know & can't seem to find the answer... on an American engine on the flywheel end of motor when running the flywheel turns clockwise or is it counter clockwise ???

Good one... In the case of Chevy, the cranks and all accessories are Clockwise therefore from the flywheel view...counterclockwise

PS on newer (than like 1986) motors spin the same but the serpentine belt reverses the waterpump, which IS different

Needed to know for sure so I could do a little test to see if I got the install correct my rebuilt Jeep transmission, clutch, pressure plate & throwout bearing. The 1st install went all wrong & I jammed up the whole works. Took it all apart & did it again. Turned the crank with trans in each gear to make sure all turns smoothly & it now does. If I had tuned the crank the wrong way it would have locked up the tranny & I would have had to do it all over again a third time. Thanks for the help  :icon_sunny:
