Title: Jeep Progress
Post by: scarecrow on February 16, 2009, 06:23:53 PM
Yeah I know, this is a VW forum. But I finished my winter VW upgrades. Now I want to finish the Jeep...Saginaw steering conversion completed & headers bolted up. Jeep is now off the jack stands & standing proud on it's own tires.(http://sjvwc.net/Gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=601&g2_serialNumber=1)

Love your Jeep!!  (love

At 15 I dreamed of a camo Jeep with a whip aerial, two jerry cans and filled with army surplus camping gear. In grade school urban legends abounded. You know the one about: ?Army surplus Jeeps for $50 and new still in the crate Harley Davidson for $25.?

Heard & read of those legends many times. From what I gather some people actualy did score Jeeps in a crate but they were all gone by the very early 50's

From the Urban Dictonary:

oh snap!
1)A term that seconds the taunting, comeback, and/or verbal abuse of another person.
Ashyle: Gah, Tom, why are you such a freakin' fatso?
Kevin: OH SNAP!

That wasn't so long ago, when I was a kid most comic books had ads in the back for those deals, I think they sold you a directory of gov. auctions or something like that. I also remember ads for the "King Midget"

Aww...cmon now Im not that old and I even remember those stories.

Loooove the Jeep.  An old jeep is on my list of "someday" projects.  I even came close to buying a 60 CJ for the BABE rally this year.
