Title: To polish or not to polish? (repost)
Post by: 3Gear on February 23, 2009, 11:08:53 am
I have a empi dual carb setup I will be installing this spring.  I was looking over the parts the other day and noticed the seams in the intake manifolds are rough. Should i take the time to smooth out and polish the inside of the intakes??

What is this D?j? Vu or....

Ok the answer is simple, the slight roughness helps break up the gas & air mixture at low speeds. If you polish the insides of the manifold theres a good chance gas can come out of suspension and "pool' or condense on the smooth walls of the manifold  - not a good thing for low speed driving.
