NICE RIDE. Is it as clean as it looks?
Oh yea ... WE ALL LOVE 6D4's dance moves!
They're much better in person!

Thanks, yeah it is quite clean, its got a few scabs but nothing to worry about, its 100 times better than any thing that has spent 30 years in British weather, I have only had it for 6 months so still looking for a few parts, it needs the seats recovering and curtains, but other than that its fine. I'm using it as my daily driver at the moment, I love it, much more fun than a modern car.

Welcome Axl!

Yeah the only time you have to worry about Jacks dancing is when he asks you to dance. :icon_eek:

Downright scary!

You have to love a Bus.

Cornwal is about 3 hours away from me, I would say thats far, but in American terms i guess thats just down the road lol

I'm sure i'll stick arround, seems like a really friendly site, plus i plan on building a spare engine, so will need some good advice!

Thanks

Mark

 HEY!!

Welcome to our site!  That is one nice looking bus!  Are there a lot of VW's there / near you? If so, maybe there is a club there you could join. Having a good club makes a world of a difference in enjoying your ride!.  Though i'm not all that familiar with buses, be sure to ask any questions  that you may have - someone here probably can help you out.  Thanks for the pic!

Matt

Hi Axl!

Welcome aboard! that is a really nice bus.
I have a good friend who moved here from Lankshire ( hope thats spelled right ) he mentioned that theres a really big VW following in the UK almost like our California scene with many different types of cars.

Glad you found us, and don't let Jacks dancing scare you!

Not a bad collection.

I'm planning on watching the rest of the engine build today, fingers crossed for more dancing!

WOW!
I like the primer black "rat" and the flamed Ghia is very nice. You have some great looking cars! Except for the steering wheel position that could be one of our events!

Jack has done a great job on those vids ( building not dancing!) He owned a VW shop many years ago so he knows his stuff.

I don't know if it will help but last year I did a Blog called "how to not build a performance engine" Its listed under the members blog section. I helped one of our guys who had a 1776 built by a local builder. Everything was wrong and the engine destroyed itself. We spent several month and brought it back from the grave and in the process we posted our finds and repairs in hope that it would help the members.

If you run into any questions or problems just post them here. We've got a great group and I'm sure you'll get an answer.

I'll check out that blog, thanks, we have a new member of our club who works in a machine shop, so i'm planning on using his skills to machine a case for me, but I want to get the spec of my proposed engine down on paper before I do any thing so I know where i am going with it from the start.

Ihave almost finished deccorating the house (keep the wife happy) so engine work will be happening soon!

I havent managed to watch the rest of the videos, i may have a look later.

Thanks

Mark

Yea tell me about it, it?s a lot easier to spend a few hours in the garage when you haven't got someone nagging you to finish decorating something! lol
