Title: Has anyone gotten crappy parts???????
Post by: bugs2much on April 15, 2009, 08:08:07 PM
Well, I was just thinking today Poof while touching up some things on my bug about the crap that suppliers have sent me in the last year. Jeeeeeze have I had my Bug that long?  For instance plastic trim parts; ( I installed today) , the new ones had a lot of flash and where the sprues were connected was rough and torn so after 15 minutes of cleaning them up I found out that the fit was not all that good. :wallbash: They went in the parts box and luckily I had a different set that were not intended to be used but fit perfectly so they went on the car. Turn signal seal and boots; three sets before I got good ones. Brake parts, most went in the trash and refurbished the old parts. %6%  Hey, and it is not just one supplier. I have received good and crappy parts from the same source. I just bought new headlights for my car after several hours of research. One of the suppliers advertised genuine ' Genuine Hella Made in Germany'. If ya blow up the picture on their site, at the bottom of the headlight picture you will read 'made in Mexico'. Hey, has Mexico been annexed by Germany,What The f -55]. So I e-mailed and even called the company, they just laughed and said it's made in Germany. So I say why does your web site picture show it as being made in Mexico. Holly Hella, Shawn could have seen that from miles away.  I got a crappy answer and continued to research and found what I wanted at Summit Racing. Mr Giggles lost a sale and I got exactly what I wanted at a fantastic price, (half of what some of our VW suppliers wanted),SHHHHHHHHHHHHH DON'T TELL ANYONE, received 2 days after placing the order. If I can find my window stickers for SUMMIT RACING you will be seeing them on my Bug. Just put in a new fuel gauge sending unit today. It looked very cheap when compared to the original. I even took some parts off the original and placed them on the new unit. Ok, so it works. 888   If ya need help with your 72 super sender let me know. It comes out and goes in from the right side. :icon_wink: Taking the air box out can make easier. But ya may not haf to.
I think I have taken too much of your time with  rant But I don't care :icon_cheesygrin:
Is it possible to start a forum naming the suppliers and what crap has been received form them? I will gladly call, e-mail, send letters, and do what is necessary to let them know what they are sending to us. And maybe you can agree with me that we don't mind spending more for a good product.
Oh, and Steve, you are right, "THE SAMBA IS YOUR FRIEND".     Sorry Jack, just had to say it,     about Steve, that is    :icon_wink: (love

They all buy from the Cheapest place to be able to compete in the market. Wofsburg  West have a lot of their stuff maid to order and it is usually good, but they also carry the junk stuff. OE V Dub use to carry good seals but who knows now.

Yep, you are right about WW. Some of their crap is in my junk pile. But I have gotten some  good parts from them, they were perfect.  I found out that if you call the sales people on the phone, at any of the suppliers,  you will get a fairly accurate answer about their product. And they can direct you to what you want, but hang on  $$$. I look at it this way, "I am only going to do this once".

Wish I could make this weekend. Hey, Yucel, next month is the BIG ONE. Nice ride, great scenery, maybe we can go up along the river. It takes a little longer /15 minutes, but well worth it.

Anything I have needed I checked JC Whitney first. They are always ruinning specials, cupons etc. It's the same exact stuff you get from the other places, they just have the ability to discount heavier due to volume. I have ordered $1500 worth of stuff in the last 8 months. I have not received anything that I couldn't use as a result of it's quality.

Now the stuff I ordered from CIP was fine but shipping was L-O-N-G.

Chirco was great. (via ebay)

Action in LA (Louisiana) had great prices but it took longer than CIP.

Whatever the hell his name is in western PA put me on hold for 15 minutes (just laid the receiver on the counter while he BS'd with somebody) the first time i called him so I hung up and someone else got the $350 order that day.

And my favorite was the meathead in Salisbury MD who delayed my bumper for a week because he couldn't find a box to fit it in! Then lied to me when he forgot to ship the bars that were supposed to go with the bumper...I was hoping that they worked out because UPS is one day shipping from them but nope. I missed fall Englishtown because of him  stoned#

I agree, I have yet to get a hold of anyone at Bugstuff...and I call all days of the week. Pretty sure they are in the same times zone as us.  ::)

Most of my purchases go through Jbugs, because they are friendly on the phone and they send the orders out fast some times before I have time to email them for the tracking number!!
I have ordered some *cheap* chrome from them, which I should have spent a few bucks more for the better quality item.

Chirco is great as well, ordered from them for the first time, plan on doing more business with them in the future. Though the header I bought it was marked as EMPI on the site...  :-[ I'll keep my fingers crossed.
