Well this morning I got out and brought the vasaline! I went over all the grounds and scraped them fresh and lubed them up. I went to start it and had nothing and realized the battery was dead. I took my bus bat. And tossed it in hopping for the best. Nada.
Then I remembered that I had to have the clutch down for it to start.
I gave it one last try and it started.
I was shaking with nervous energy/ I had the fire extinguisher ready.
It sounds better than what I thought it would.
The red light won't go out when it runs.
Hopefully I will be able to make it to the next meeting. Me and rusty Vinny.
My mom passed the night of the last meeting.
Very sorry to here about your Mom.

:icon_cheers: @@@ kickAss
thanks. It had been hard. The one nice thing is that my step father has been a big help with the car. He has fun with all the little odds and ends. He is a shop mechanic and the VW stuff is like a warm up/ fun game for him.
The warning light went out when I started it up for my wife. Next I have to do is the rear brakes/ drums.
Great news, sorry to hear about your mom. If you make it to the next meeting I have a present for you, just come seen me I'll be the guy with the Macbook ;D A friend gave it to me and it will be of GREAT use to you. ;D If I tell the other T-3 guy what it is he will kill me.
sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk sqBk fight= -22-
He might just kill you regardless!
Hey Rock,
sorry to hear about your loss, I hope you can make the next meeting.
Its a great feeling when you "wake one up" now just fixing the little details and you'll be driving it soon! :icon_cheers:
I am a little sad.
No body made any vasaline jokes. :D

Yea, believe it or not these boards are "PG" :icon_colors:
Well I have no redlight at all. So something is a foot with my generator. My guess is the brushes. The idiots guide will be handy for this task.

oh I see now =-) Sounds like the idles a little slow, that's how I thought mine was suppose to sound. Right now I think my bug sounds like it's running fast, but it was tuned up by Sir Jack Kessel the Great. After you get your mig welder talk to my dad "bugs2much" about welding the muffler. =-) I don't know why he didn't just replace it!! Like I said in this post or another one, if your idle is slow or you are low on oil your oil light will come on. Just don't over fill it's a good way to blow out your seals. ;D Love the fastback!! I'm jealous.
Sounds great! good job.
That rivals any of Lemorris' videos! "This is right, Dad!" - classic.
Congrats
so just to clarify, in 69 VW changed the lights so they actually say what they are for on them. I am pretty sure my oil light is green. And red for charging system?
I have oil in the car, and when I pull the wire from the oil sensor on top of the engine the green light goes out. I belive my gen brushes are brushless or so it seems.

I am cornfused about " welding the muffler"
I havnt ordered the welder. I had several expenses , funeral related that took my mig money.
I wouldn't be able to pic it up till the summer.
I saw that Da welder is having a "sale " and I might have to take him up on it.
Oh I just ment it sounds like you might have a hole in your muffler or an exhaust leak. The audio on video recorders can play tricks though too.
