OK I never ordered tires over the internet before and the issue never came up until a week ago. My 72 needs new shoes and like everybody else out there I'm trying to get the best deal. I decided to check out tire rack and found the prices to be the best around. I've been running Pirelli tires on the car and the last time I could remember buying them was about 10 years ago. I checked Tire Rack and found the same tires listed and about $21.00 cheaper than what the local dealers wanted. I also used their comparison feature to check pricing and specifications of several tires all the same size and class and found the Pirelli P-6 tires were rated much lower than others in the same class. I settled on a set of "Fuzions" by Bridgestone. they had identical ratings as my old tires but scored across the board higher for things like "wet traction", tread wear.
Anyway I went ahead and ordered the Fuzions last Friday and they were delivered this Monday. Can't complain about the serivce or speed and the comparison feature has lots of valuable things when looking for tires such as "revolutions pr mile" and tire height. All this comes in handy trying to fit a non-stock size tire on your car.
Now one little problem and it has nothing to do with Tire Rack. Yesterday I discovered I had ordered the wrong size! I guessed when I should have checked to see what was on the car. One phone call and a fast trip to UPS to return the tires and my new ones will be in my paws by Monday. The person on the help line was very nice and explained to me I would have to ship the tires back but I would receive ful credit for my shipping cost plus the cost of the tires. I also was able to order the correct size on that call so everything went very smooth.
Do I think its a good idea ? you bet! they will get my business next time too! tier
Done business with them myself, was very pleased :icon_thumleft:
I buy all my tires via the "Tire Rack" and swear by their ratings. :icon_cheers:
Most times if I order them early in the morning I find them on my deck the next day. :icon_cool:

Curious, what size/brand you guys go with for stock replacement? Thx -
Rich,
My 72 super is running Empi 8 spoke wheels not stock so I had to order 185-65R-15s. Tire rack has a conversion chart so if you have the old non metric size you can plug that in and they will tell you the equivelant size.
Just for the heluvit I plugged in my 67 Corvairas size thats 185 - 80R - 13 all I came up with was a trailer tire! gotta keep lookin on that one.
I have used Tire Rack also - Great to work with. Their site even had, may still have, an area where you can find a local shop (with pricing) for the mounting and ballancing of your new purchase. I would use them again!
Good to know. Thx - I think I'm going to use NTB up by the Deptford Mall.
