Title: Rod knock? God I hope not.
Post by: Beetleboi -Greg- on July 05, 2009, 03:35:13 PM
So as you know I've adjusted my valves today, something I thought was the valves may be something more serious. When you have a rod knock does it happen all the time? The first innitial start of the day sounds like a clanking/tapping. Maybe I'll video tape it tomorrow.

go over the full procedure again- you might have forgotten to turn the engine 180 when you did one of the adjustments and that will throw off everything

Yeah I did that right. I wonder if my dad has a micrometer, I was watching the old video on how to do valves, and it tells you the exact feel. It's suppose to feel "gritty".

NO! Not the Irish one! You either have to be sauced or wearing 3D glasses!

I have 3D glasses we're good to go. Dad said it's actually going to hurt the micrometer to run the feeler gauge through it.

You will hear a rod knock most at the high RPM just before you shift a fast metallic sound.

knock, knock who-----------
