I changed the oil last week and for whatever reason had a major brainfart and overfilled the Bug when I dropped the oil. Going down the road Friday night, the car was smoking & since one of the heater boxes has a hole in it, it was seeping smoke into the passenger compartment...I'm thinking, "Crapola...the push rod tubes must be leaking on the heater boxes"...
So I wound up dropping the oil again on Sunday and checked the manual...It's 2.5 quarts NOT 3.5 quarts! So with the correct volume of earl in there, everything is fine. In hindsight, the 20 miles I put on it with it overfilled probably cleaned everything really well. The oil came out nice & clean. I refilled with the Valvoline racing oil with zinc in it - It had a sticker on it that said something like 'with zinc for flat tappet cams and older engines'.

Still got ya beat for internal engine cleaning, my 55 came with the whole case filled with gas, + 2.5quarts oil :icon_wink:
Drove it for a mile like that - unintentionally of course.....
Yea, overfilling oil is bad.

Yeah...I shoulda known better, but I was up for a dumbass award that day...
Not nearly as bad as the day I pulled a nail from the front driver's tire of my truck, only to run it over again when I backed the truck up to the shop (with material) on my way back from Lowes...this time I got the rear passenger tire - SAME NAIL I pulled from the front and left in the driveway while I plugged the tire. ./// :wallbash: m-d

You did NOT run over the same nail twice...IMPOSSIBLE!!! Things like that only happen to ME!!
