Title: Promotional Video
Post by: lovebus (jack) on October 05, 2009, 11:22:21 AM
I am going to do a promotional video about the club to post on YouTube and other video sites and show at PB and other VW events.

I need a narrative for the video and would like everyone to submit ideas for the storyline. I know it's hard without seeing the video but I am going to build the video around the storyline. I have enough video and photos that I can build around every aspect of the club.

You can submit a whole story or just suggestions for the story and I will edit everything I get and add it to the video. We have one of the most diverse group of enthusiast then any other club I know and it should be a great story to show others why they should belong to SJVWC.

The tentative title is:

 THE STORY

Thanks for your help.

Well, this is the kind of response I thought I would get.

I try to make the site and club a little better and I have to beg.

Never mind, this would be like trying to get pictures for Members Cars sent to me.

SCREW IT!!

I'll throw this out there. 2CENTS Just the first 15 seconds ...not even that much really.

Just the "I want something great" and the "we aint great we are just some guys from Jersey" part. 5-6 seconds
Then cut to shots of bugs speeding by...after that I have no clue.
I don't even know how to edit just that part....but I bet Greg does....

My work here is done....ship my Oscar ASAP.... :icon_cheesygrin:

im not sure where to go with the story line maybe a parody off of a movie classic like 2001 space odessy or redo part of a classic car movie like greese or hollywood knights and have members act out the parts with their own cars.  or just shoot in a documentary style, can anyone do a morgan feeman voice for the narrative.  i think this would be a great idea Jack dont get down because of the lack of posts im sure its just a slow starting topic.  let me knwo what you need im more then happy to help in anyway possible.

i can almost picture you sitting at your desk writing up the plot now wearing a red smokers jacket and the soft electric glow of your e-cig as the words pour onto the page.

Great idea but have to stay away from popular music so U Tube don't cut the audio.

thats a great idea, whats the chance of flashing on VW themes in the media, like
a quick flash of some of the old ads or even a short section with the scene from Woody Allens "Sleeper" when they find the old dub after years and it starts..

Hey think "Lemorris" he does lots with very little more than good camera shots & good music.

Just take existing video & narrate it. Clips of shows, cruising, camping etc. If you are doing a documentary, you won't really use much of the video sound, and you really don't want to make it cheesy with too much music - IF your M.O. is a promotional video.

I had an idea put didn't get the chance to submit an actual script.

What I envisioned is a documentry.  Starting with a series of old pictures of your early days and the Screaming Yellow Zonker, your past experience, (60's music). I have some old VW pictures. Telling the story of how two guys only 3 miles apart came up with the same idea at almost the same exact time. Then fast forward the story to the club in it's early days perhaps show Prestige VW. Show press clippings. Interview some members and have them tell of their experiences with VW's - Then to events we do now. Show the engie rebuilding the welding classes, camping, shows, cruises, meetings, picnics and the Christmas party.

End it with a series of group shots -Titled "The club with the most laughs, best comrodrie and fun working members.    sjvwc.ico

Thinking along the same lines buddy. Write it up!

All of theses thoughts will fit in nicely, Just have to make two videos, one 10min. long for Utube and another longer one to play at events and show.

jack save your self the trouble make one video as long as you want and i can cut it into sections and post a part one and part two (or even three four and five on you tube.)

perfect style i think you are looking for would be the mix between the narrative and music like in the Endless Summer videos.  nice mix of music with a semi comical narrative.

Now I think I'm starting to get the idea of what Jacks thoughs are.

Here's my two  2CENTS..  vwlogo
What about starting or opening with one of those old VW videos clips showing the cars being punched out at the factory in the early days, then bring the Eddie and the Cruises sound Track in like Tyler suggested where they say "We'll just A Couple Guys from Jerseey" From there the world is open to expose the SJVWC Screaming Yellow Gold Fish whoops Zonker, club members cars, videos  etc, etc. to the World Wide Dubs.
