Title: Planning ahead. Granny Grose's 2010
Post by: Beetleboi -Greg- on October 13, 2009, 07:28:43 PM
So, I've decided NOT to go to Germany in favor of the ultimate Camping Machine... no we aren't talking about a Winnebago.
May marks my I gotta have a bus by this date. I'd much rather have one that is worn in because I want to paint it crazy and would feel bad about painting over it. I've checked the Samba and there are a lot of decent busses in my price range.  $61$ So it's time to save up...
Anywho, I was looking for the perfect day to set as a goal for said Type II. Like this Gem...

However I wouldn't dare to paint over that paint! I know that this will be gone in the 5 months of me paying off and saving, but it's good to know that there are some decently priced VW's still around.

ROFL. There's one I'm looking at that doesn't... and go figure they are flat. It might be the only thing stopping me from driving it home. It's a miss match paint job but it looks really cool. It probably won't be around in 5 months.

I would buy that in an instant, but it would cost that much
to ship it to the west coast as it costs.
Guess i'll have to keep looking.

i saw a bay window westy at a junk yard in atco. it looks complete. from rt. 30 in berlin go east, take a right on cooper folly road and the yard is down on your right. i'd stay away from the bus you posted. totally dry busses like tyler's are around.

If it's at the yard I think it is they don't like me very much. They kicked me out because I was "wasting their time". I didn't know they were going to baby sit me while I was in there.

Wait it's not, maybe I'll swing by there this weekend. It's a tiny yard between Bartal and Villas Ct.

I dunno about buying a bus at a scap yard, there might be some weird small things missing that are easily over looked.

I'll go look at it myself, and if it's missing headlights and chit or 1/3 of the engine is missing I'll say forget it. I don't mind holes in the body, I just don't want to figure out why the lights aren't coming on.
Anyway, no sense in worrying about it till I have the money in hand.

Looking great Shawn, what are you doing for paint? I think it would be cool to stain and seal. Put some stripes on it. Sorry Matt, I've seen the light. Westys are the way to go!

Cool... I can envision it now... running through the pines @ night with swampers and night vision... rolling up to the campsite and not evening having to breakout the taj (even though you would have it with you, of course)... breaking out the banjo (or any other number of instruments you always carry) and dueling with the Jersey devil (while making him hobo taters and a milkshake) and simultaneously be downloading everything on the internet for everyone else to enjoy!

did i mention how much i love camping with BAHAHA!!!  BO** BO** BO**

And now for the pizza-de-resistance... Trading my cell modem for a sprint MiFi... 3G mobile Hot Spot. We can ALL access the web! We can even broadcast streaming video! (http://www.emofaces.com/en/emoticons/f/film-marker-emoticon.gif)

I love roughing it!  LAUGH@
