I've been thinking about this ever since Atzion campout. I would like Shawn, Matt and Tylor to get together via e mail or however and make a list of songs that you can play together for next summers camp-outs. By doing this you will have the songs down pat and won't have to stop and think how they go when your playing. It was so cool when you guys were playing I would like to see more of it next year. If not ./// f+t fight= sk2 0085 I understand.
-
LOL maybe I will make a washtub bass...
-
Or a musical saw...

Not a bad idea jack maybe even if you guys posted some requests we could even get a couple you could sing along to. I just glued the final pcs. Of my new guitar I'm building on so I'm ready to start practicing for next summer.
-
You made a guitar??? Major coolage points bro.
-
Hey... I made one 20 years ago! And it still plays! That's coolage points with 20 years interest LAUGH@
-
LOL maybe I will make a washtub bass...
If you look to the good side
Fallin' down's a free ride
Slippin' and a-slidin' in the mud
If your back is hurtin'
I can say for certain
I'll be there to treat you to a soothin' back rub
When there ain't no hole in the washtub

Here ya go Jack...

LOL that's intense... I'm talking old school, on string and a wash pan!
-
Im game... Since Matt is well versed in the old folk style with his banjo that would be the first avenue to persue. Matt needs to list a half dozen or more of his favorites and I'll track down the music & make it available here on the board (& youtube of course). Looking forward to it
-
just the hardware left to finish the guitar. im tempted to toss together one of those bases if you think you could play it greg.

Obviously I've only played the thing for a week before the camping, and not once after. Before all that it was at least a year. I am more rusty than them ther banjar strings. Years ago I use to play a lot...maybe this will be my winter project.....as for any old songs, stay tuned - no pun intended 888
Way to go Tyler! wow. Is that from a kit?- looks really good
m
off the top of my head,
Cripple Creek
Old Joe Clark
Shady Grove
Mole in the ground
There's more I know but have to look them up, mostly i know a lot of obscure mountain songs whose origins only come by from generations of inbreeding.............
-
P#3 nice work Tyler!
-
Yea it was a kit i got from Grizzley a machine shop company. so far it has been pretty easy and sounds good enough for camping.
-
Can we also put the keys of the songs so we all learn them in the same key?

whoa, that guy is good, think I need to become as obsessed with the banjo as with bugs.....since I only have limited time due to sleeping, one of them has to go........................
-
i gave cripple creek a try today for a little and realised my fingers have gotten soft from playing my flat wound and nylon string guitars. i also need to get me speed back up so pretty much spent the day just playing warm ups and speed exercises till i couldnt feel my fingers anymore.

well the letters were a pain to get on there but lets hope they stay. i need to get a little better at cutting out the stencils but not bad for a first try.

thats where i got the south jersey from i tried to get the rest of it under the symbol but it didnt work well. i have some ideas for the next one that should blow this one away.
-
well i had to stop playing around and go to work but i got it sealed and the letters seem like they will stay. i need to get my hands on another sticker and i can prob add the volks club writing under the center cut out. anyway glued the neck on and tossed in a couple screws for good measure so tomorrow i just have to do a little more sanding add the bridge and we should be good to go. im curiouse to see what she sounds like.
if this pic shows us anything i think its that i should mount a LED on the inside to make the VW glow like that while i play.
