Title: Sticky afm
Post by: Shaggy on January 16, 2010, 12:49:39 PM
Thanks Jack for helping send us in the right direction with tyler's bus. I pullled the afm out as it suspected to be sticking and indeed it was. The trap door is actually rubbing on the top side of the housing. I wiped the inside down and used a few drops of wd-40 on the pivot point on some on the ceiling? Of the housing where it was rubbing. I worked the door backing and forth and seems better but it starts to bind shortly thereafter. Anyone have any suggestions??? I know there isn't any real adjustment for that. Does anyone have a spare afm we could try?

It would be awesome we could borrow it. We are trying to eliminate a sputtering problem and think the afm mght be the cause or at least a big contibutor.

It means air flow meter. It measures air entering the engine and sends that to the computer and helps adjust air/fuel mixture on fuel injected engines. There mampsme attempt to explain. Feel free to elaborate.
