So I'm watching a movie called Planet 51 it's not out yet, unless you know how to get it. :police: Anyway, I'm watching it and this Stoner Alien pulls up in his UFO car and it looks like this.

Anybody else see a resemblance to a Split? busicon2 Look at the air vents and how the lines go down in the front. It might be a stretch... or maybe I just need sleep ha ha.

Guess I should have finished watching the scene before posting ha ha...

Mini Cooper, Plymouth Fury?, Cadillac

how come the stoner never has the Cadillac in the movies. i know at least 4 people who "partake" that drive very nice Cadillacs i even had one myself for some time. i think i want to start a movement and make a movie about some stoned surfers and have them all pouring out of Cadillacs and smoke following them as they pull their boards out of the back of the car and run off to the beach yelling stuff like knarly rad and tubular. i always hear society talk about how stereo types are hurtful but no one ever sticks up for the surfer bus driver does someone have a soapbox i can borrow to start this movement i mean look at me... ummm never mind i guess is you gave that alien a beard it would be a close match, But look at someone else there are bus drivers that don't fit this look and I'm sure they are sick of it.
OK that is all and to be honest i should of prob stopped after the first sentence but its late and i have nothing to do but waste time.
-
on a side note how was the movie i was going to watch that the other night. worth it?
-
I love the movie, I'm going to buy it on Blu-ray when it is available legally.
-
There goes that impulse buying again give me the money for the blu Ray and I will hold it and burn you a normal copy of the DVD from netflix. You need to suffer a little for your bus. Do you know how many nights I went to the bar and said I can't stay past closing I'm saving my cash for a bus.

Stereotypes are not created because one person observed one person looking & behaving in a certain way. In order for a stereotype to even work both people in the conversation need to be "in on it". Therefore most stereotypes usually represent a fairly large portion of the group being stereotyped.
BTW "Stoners" are long-haired hippies from the late 60's early 70's that wear tie-dyed clothes and obscure hats. They listen to obscure alternative (not Alternative) music and drive VW buss(es). No one does that anymore... They'd stick out like a sore thumb! I1t
It's not hurtful or mean to just point out the obvious

You speak of hippies not stoners...

And you missed the joke

stereotypes are stereotypes because they are usually true. one should not judge based on stereotypes. i used to have hair down to my a** but had stopped partaking of the herb a long time before that. the man loved to pull me over but alas had nothing to bust me for. isn't stoner a more modern term and pot smoking hippies the original term? :icon_cool: stoned# busicon2.

Cadillac is correct
-
I'll agree with the caddy, still dont think anyone has pegged the first two. Its one of those "I'll know em when I see em, and I havent seen em yet"
Too many grille bars on the lead car to be the ford, headlights on the 2nd car are more pronounced and without the "eyebrow" of the chevy.
car 2, the headlights are very "checkeresque" which means nothing because this style was used on alot of cars.
car 1 has a bit of a vintage aston martin feel but I think a dodge product carried a similar grille
(http://sites.google.com/site/smugglersinn/800px-Aston_Martin_DB4_2.jpg)
-
OK 2 definitely Checker
-
OK 2 definitely Checker
The lights are, but the grille isnt, the checker "borrowed" the lights from something else. And they've been used on so many customs that I'm forgetting the original application.
-
You're right... Here's the checker
(http://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-content/images/planet51img1big.jpg)
-
For some reason Im thinking Citroen for car 2 but I dont have a justifiable reason why. Its late and Im tired perhaps.
Good catch on the actual checker photos, that pretty much assures its not a checker but something with similar lights.
They are detailed enough caricatures to definitely link to a real car, very cool

Still too few horizontal bars, I know there is something out there that has the multiple horizontals like that (aside from the aston martin) just drawing a blank on it right now.
This is too much work for one night ;)

#1 Checkeresque - could also be a customized Nash
#2 Edsel - just the upper part ( see below )
#3 59 Caddy

I do agree, Edsel was my first thought based on the headlights but I dont see why they'd be so "accurate" with all the other cars and leave off the distinctive Edsel horse collar/toilet seat/well we'll leave it at those 2
