Thats is cool...
Wonder how they handle air flow vents?
-
The back chop is cool. .. What if you left the front alone, standard beetle front... no extension?
-
I'll go out on a limb here and be the only one to say that thing is as ugly as a $5 call girl.
-
A fresh coat of gloss Rustoleum painted two tone would make her into a $25 call girl.
-
that would look sweet with the top chopped
-
2@@cool OK Glenn, good car for your engine
-
looks like a one foot extension in front of the A Piller, never saw that before, cool.

It's all in how you look at it.
You see it as if it's finished....

When I look at something like that I see its potential...

Only thing missing is a kick-@$$ strap!

BTW Jack. I dont think the cowl is added. I think the a pillars were moved back & the doors shortened with the remainder becoming the cowl
-
The car does have a classic european look. Based on that one picture, it has a nice profile. - Could be a show winner. /?trophy?/
But, Wow, it's going to be a long tow. ROAD TRIP {[busbu}]

Nah, it looks too much like it is trying to be something else - an entirely different car from the 40's or something.
Time is better spent on actually restoring a 40's car or something .......

Ah come on [gunfiring\ It's easy to restore and/or follow the rules. Takes balls & imagination to cut something up & make an entirely new creation. But hey thats just my way of thinking &^beer& =+grouphu9

Good point-But then your working with a car from the forties (or thirties). You have to find/make parts. We know Volkswagens. We can fix Volkswagens. That's why Volkswagens are still around and Renaults, Pinto's, Fiats, etc, are not.
It's reliable, durable, E-Z repairs and parts are cheap and still made in many countries..... AND you can pop the body off and with a kit of your choice have a complete different car. And underneath all the lipstick and paint is a humble air-cooled VW engine, steering and running gear.
That's why the Beetle is the all time champ of kit cars. That's what makes this Samba car so appealing. Try and find a water pump for a 1940's Alfa or BMW.- I can't even imagine what it would cost if you found one. &)chill

Hummmm &$hmmthin_+ for some reason I agree with Mark.

Fiats are still over seas, dad and I are drooling over the Fiat 500c =-)

According to the European car shows I watch they say Fiat's are no loner the piece of junk they once were. They make a bunch of way cool models many of which are popular in England

Sombody has been watching Clarkson & his buddies (http://www.jonrb.com/emoticons/whistling.gif)
It's true. Our point of view is based on thaos rust buckets of the seventies.
As for the VW's. They were very reliable... until they weren't. Then they were easily fixable.
But I think the reason for the longevity is that they didnt keep changing it. The parts were interchangeable & they made so many, in so many different countries that the demand for spares was still there.
As for the kits, name one other car on which you can completely remove the body, roof and all, and still have a drivable chassis.
Here's something to think about... If VW had put the vin tag on the body instead of the pan the kit car/ dune buggy craze might not have happened due to DMV laws regarding vin tags
-
and that leads to the question why and what are the vin tag laws that would have changed that? :confused04:;

you cant move/remove one of those (legally) without going reconstucted or something like that. The beauty of the "official" vin being on the pan was, no matter what you bolted to the pan, it was still a VW beetle (as far as the registration was concerned).
My point was strip every other car in the world to the chassis & you still have a roof line. Not so with the beetle.

O love the new Fiats. When I was in Italy this summer I took more pictures of the new Fiats and Vespa's than churches.
I didn't see any old Fiats, not in the rural country side or in the big cities like Milan.
According to SEMA, old cars have pretty much been legislated out for the average person. Unless you have the big bucks to refit them to meet current standards you are out of luck.... It's all part of The New World Order.... Watch out! it's coming your way. X$Darth
