Looks like it might have something to do with the fuel line on the driver's side of the fan shroud. Just a guess!
-
%$oldcit It's an insulated clamp, 4 metal gaskets, a compression fitting, and two brass fittings.... That was easy, what do I win. /?trophy?/
-
They are parts to an inlet for a snow cone machine, Ice-a-matic 9000?
-
No, I think it was the Ice-a-matic 8500, the older model &^rofl &^rofl
-
Dang, you are right. They introduced the titanium inlets in the 900 series... My bad. :)

OK.. The item that looks like a compression union, has an arrow on it. (indicating flow direction)
So it's not just a union. it is either a regulator, filter or backflow preventer...
Im guessing that the 2 barbs will fit into the big thingie.
So it's a universal kit designed to be used on hard tubing OR hose
Am I on the right track??? :jump4jo":
-
It is a back flow preventer
Not sure if it will work but I am going to try and use it as a fuel cut-off between the gas tank and the fuel pump.
The pump will have to overcome the pressure of the spring in the cut off valve. This way when you have a fire and it burns your fuel hose the valve will stop the flow of gas at the tank.
We have had many threads on this http://www.sjvwc.net/forums/index.php?topic=4825.0 and its been on my mind all the time the best way to go. If you can't cut off the flow of gas no extinguisher will help.
If this valve works then I'll go with a Automatic Fire Suppression System.
-
OMG! I got it! hahahahahaha &^rofl
Where did you get the kit?

Very ingenious idea. Could be a real life (or at least VW) saver if it works. Any concern about the extra strain on the pump to overcome the spring pressure?
-
I'll have to look the site up where I got it.
Not sure how it will work with a stock pump, may have to go with an electric pump.
It is used when the back flow valve in a Detroit cars fuel pump goes bad, it saves buying and replacing a new fuel pump
-
When I ran demo derby cars, I had a manual fuel shut off valve within reaching distance. I was required to use -6 AN braided fuel line. I remember thinking I had it covered with a one-way check valve, but that didn't do it per regulations. I guess the thought was that:
- I'd still be awake to hit the valve.
- The fuel in the line from the valve up to the carb(s) was insignificant.
I deferred to these guys, since their cars usually blew up on purpose.
Since the fuel line passes under the passenger compartment from the tank to the carb(s) in a bug, couldn't you just mount a similar shut-off valve e near the seat? Taking a six foot piece of fuel hose and simulate what comes through in the line may give a half coffee can of fuel, no?
-
Wait a minute, is the line in the freakin tunnel? I forgot, I'm bus-challenged at the moment...
-
I guess you could do that rich but the more I thought about it this was the best way for the bus. If this works I will do the same for the car.
One of the biggest problems is not even knowing your car is on fire till it's to late, some sort of fire alarm would also be great so you know right away. ALSO, if you have gas poring on the ground makes it almost imposable to put the fire out with one small extinguisher, thats where the check vavle will really help.
This is where I got it from. http://www.amazon.com/S-U-R-Parts-SRRCKV7-Check-Valve/dp/B0017RCK44

So yo are going to put it on the Suction side of the Pump? hmmmm

Love Bus Engine Pulling Party postponed till March.
-
Dang... No problem.
-
Aww I had taken the day off.
-
Love Bus Engine Pulling Party postponed till March.
Why?
-
Stuff happens, I have to be at the cemetery early then have to shoot over to PA for about 5 hrs.
If you want to do your engine we can get that over and geter done sometime soon.
-
Do you want us to just come over and yank it (love bus' engine) so you can get it done?
-
Thanks, but it will be better if we put it off till the weather brakes. Right now it has a lot of snow and ice on it and it will have even more after tonight, it isn't pleasant working under and around a car with water dripping down on you and walking in water.
The one thing I regret when the garage was built is that I didn't put floor drains in like I was planing on doing.
-
I dont think I was going to be able to make it anyway with the drive and all.. byeby.,
