Trying to explain to my 6 year old niece who lives in Miami what " pool shoveling" is...

Rich,
I got an Aquadoor skimmer cover for my pool. It looks like a tupper ware cover. It lets you keep the water level much higher. That makes it a lot easier to shovel off. We almost lost the pool last year. The cover was ruined. I never had this trouble before last winter.  Link for example: http://www.poolproducts.com/SPP/productr.asp?pf_id=W2930

I had one made of stainless. You remove every-other screw and intall it and a gasket over the opening.

Skimmer stays dry & you keep the pool filled to normal level

Actually I still have it and the pool is gone.... Hey rich you want it?

Rich, Wow, you really kept that pool free of ice and snow...our pool cover is loaded with ice and snow, but the water level is not going down anymore  from that weight through the skimmer since  the pool water must have..... 3 inches of ice - Illl check out what Bob and Shawn have said. be good if they have something for an 18' x 36' pool............

 thanks for the info...

Yea, and last snow, took me 2.5 hours to do my driveway and my neighbors with a snow blower - we got a lot more than you did in NJ

                      - wait, i see - it's just for the skimmer......cool..........

Here's the one i have

http://www.coversuperstore.com/SS-Winter-Skimmer-Plate-wGasket-12842/

You can't beat it. No draining of the pool, no packing. Just install the plate (and a screw-in plug into the return) then disconnect the hose from the skimmer. The skimmer stays dry so no fear of cracking
