Karen:

Frank was at the meeting last night and said his blue convertible is definitly for sale.

I believe, he also said that he just got in a Super Beetle with a good engine that would go with the car. He was using Jay's engine (till it went boom).

This is a incredibly nice car and has won its share of trophys.

  Worth taking a look at.

So there is no engine in Franks car right now, and he's going to put one in from another car? I'm   :confused04:;...

Karen, to clear up the confusion. Frank was using Jays motor in his convertible. He recently purchased a low mileage Super and is installing that car's motor into his convertible. He had to return Jesters motor either way, so this was a planned swap-before-the-sale. (Blowing up Jays motor was unplanned  ?/banghea?/ )

Sounds horribly scary, but we can change motors in a beetle in about 2 hours. It's literally 4 bolts, 2 cables and 4 electrical wires.

It's not uncommon to keep a spare engine like one might keep spare parts. It's not complicated

BTW Ever think about a Baja Bug?  whistleegi

Post by: kvbug (karen) on August 02, 2011, 10:59:10 pm
Shawn, thanks for straightening that out for me.  Do I get the extra body as a freebie?  LOL   JKgif

It's amazing to me that you all can swap motors like that.  You make it sound so simple,  but I know it's not all THAT simple.

No I never did think about a Baja Bug... although my 8 yr old would think I was the coolest mom EVER if I bought one.  He went to the BBBBB with me specifically to see Bajas!!  So, for his vote, that and campers won out over a convertible like mom wants...  __rolleye_      <kids>  lol

hello everyone, my blue beetle is for sale, all the work has been done, new top interior etc, the motor that is going in the car starts up better than any newer car that i have seen, and i am serious about that last statement, it almost starts by just pulling your keys out of your pocket, it starts o the first click and i say first cllick cause that is what it really takes to start it, as far as the spare beetle body, it does not have a title so i am going to part it out at punchbuggy and half the proceeds will be going to the club, so if any one needs some clean parts for a 72 super this will be your chance. as far as my blue car, it can be sold with the wheels or without also the music system can abe pulled to make the car a bit more affordable, i have a set of brand new tires on factory rims with hubcaps i can install on her if someone wants to buy it that way, either way its a nice car i am not a happy camper about the sale but cash is king nowadays. besides i can always fixup a type 3 fasty and have onother vw on the road soon, well let me know thanks.

OMG! Yucell! Such language!...  #@rofl3

Karen, Franks rims are Porsche wheels, made by Fuch.

The factory paint is removed and the wheels are then polished

Very desirable...and expensive to buy. (unless they're already on the car!)

Title: Re: for sale
Post by: kvbug (karen) on August 03, 2011, 08:30:56 pm
I know, I was thinking the same thing.  They're gorgeous, and really make the car.  I know how expensive good rims are.. a family member bought Foose rims for a Tbird and they're stunning, but they were thousands.

OH and did I mention that I don't know how to drive a stick    /help.gif.,/, but it's always been my dream to own a bug because of some nostalgic memories in my life.   So... there's that issue to contend with.. lol

I don't know how to drive a stick

Easy Peasy... Enterprise rent-a-car.  #@rofl3

Actually. Any of the driving schools will teach you in 20 mins and let you drive for 2 hours for under 200 bucks.

OR just buy the car and learn on it. You won't kill a clutch learning on it, and if you do it's cheap to buy a new one and it only takes one minute and four seconds to remove and replace the motor. The clutch is on the back of it   whistleegi

You're too funny with that timing thing.  That was the guys in Europe... can my NJ counterparts do it too??? lol

I called the driving schools around here, and they said they don't have manual transmissions.  I guess too many people did that and burned out the clutches and they were tired of paying for it.   Enterprise, Hertz, and Avis told me the same thing.    What place did you get your info from?  I would travel for it...

Guess I better get some whiplash collars for me and my passengers!   #@rofl3

You should at least take a look. It is a stunning car.

Stick shift can be easily learned. We just got to find a member with: an old car, don't mind a little grinding, patience and a wet grassy field to practice on.

Panzer, I understand the need for patience, an old car, and that gears will grind,  but why the wet grassy field??   :confused04:;

PS ... I KNOW that if I look at Frank's car, I'm going to want it.  I already want it and have only seen pictures of it.

if you really want to learn to drive a stick, not as hard as you think, go rent a uhaul truck???????
Not the little pick up but the mid size one. Have somebody drive it to a out of the way location and go for it.
best way to leRn how to gring gears, double clutch ect

I'll figure it out.  Maybe just go buy the car and teach myself.  Like my uncle told my aunt in the 50's when he drove their bug to the middle of nowhere,  " You've seen me do it enough,  now get us home."      She did....

Well I think I'm going to call Frank to look at the car.  Can't test drive it, so I'll have to take  everyone's word that its as good as you say it is.  Since you're familiar with it, it makes me feel more at ease than possibly buying from someone no one knows.

I was just at Franks today. He's willing to help you out with whatever you may want to do. All of us know this car and know Frank is on the up and up.

What area are you in? Maybe there is a member willing to teach you how on your own car. If your near me, heck, I'll even show you!
