Matt is currently in Myrtle Beach with his mom for vacation, and he said the roads are flooding. Said it's a bit bad, but not the hype they are turning it into.

I tied down the outdoor canopy, porch swing and big potted foliage . Removed all the hanging plants-don't want any flying missiles and covered the dunebuggy and motorcycles in the garage-
I used layers of; quilts, yoga mats, welding blankets-anything that has padding in the event of a broken window, falling shelves or worse a collasped roof. Got out all my kerosene lamps, battery and camp lanterns out. Yesterday I filled the freezer with bottles full of water-in the event of a power failure the food will last longer and I can take some out and  put them in a cooler with the milk and other refrigerated items.

  I guess I'm ready.  whistleegi

OK, thanks Greg, LOL Karen, things are just great in the basement, just came up stairs for a break. Not staying here long. Moving stuff around in the basement, sweeping, and cleaning. Got half a case of beer in the fridge, and 3 bottles of good wine in the wine cellar. Left a half gallon of sangria jug wine upstairs and somebody has been nipping on it. Could it be  8*gaged? (LOL Karen).

Lost power here 7 hours ago, and no end in sight.  Can't even get through the JCPL hotline to see when they might restore it.  Wind and rain still whipping around.  Small generator powering fridge, and one more cord for a miscellaneous item..right now my computer. So no well and septic.  Yippee,  the bucket brigade for the bathroom! lol

Thank the Lord! We only have branches and leaves everywhere! All trees still standing. No loss of power! Basement under control! The pump cycled all night! Rain has finally stopped here! Looks to be 6" total!

They have storm shutters and hurricane construction and we don't.  Yeah...let them get a Nor'Easter/So' Easter in the winter and see how they handle it!

Everything in Turnersville looks OK. We rescued my mother-in-law from Philly, maybe it wasn't necessary. We don't know if her block loss electric or not.

In my yard were just a lot of broken branches. All the roof shingles are still in place. I did get some dampness in my basement in two places, which is rare. All in all in could have been so much worse.

I remember a hurricane when I was about six that had to be the no-name hurricane in 1944. I went out in the storm with my uncle and was swept off my feet; they caught me by my collar just in time.  afraid%

Hurricane Hazel (1954) at the farm blew part of the barn down and left the cows and the horse standing in open top stalls. It also blew down the chicken coop. We were finding stray chickens in the woods for weeks after that.  34angle

Our main street here is still under 5 ft of water,  but we finally got power back a short time ago.  It keeps flickering every now and then, so just hoping it stays on.

Two days?  Our power came back on after about 18 hours,  but it even went out again today for a while.   There's a town nearby that is POSSIBLY getting power returned by this coming Saturday, so I feel very fortunate.     Travel is terrible though... detours all over the place. SO traveling are you, Matt?*
