				Bet you could pick up some good buys now in Mexico.
 
 In Mexico, the iconic Volkswagen Beetle is known as el vocho, and 1.7 million of them have been sold in the country. In the capital of Mexico City, los vochos have been turned into taxicabs by the thousands. But officials in Mexico City have apparently decided enough is enough and have begun a campaign to stamp out the Bugs. Deeming the cars inefficient polluters, the city government is offering taxi drivers $1500 to scrap their vochos as the first phase of a plan to take all of them off the streets.
 ?We want to get rid of them. This vehicle is now a nuisance in Mexico City,? said Victor Manuel Ramirez, head of the taxi division at the city transport and road ministry in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle. ?The government wants to replace them with more modern, fuel-efficient

				I have a son living in Houston. Every so ofter he goes to Mexico. I asked him to keep his ears open about any VW's in good shape for sale. If the price is right transportation is not bad.
