Title: MugMan benefit for Isabelle, my blind 8 year old buddy!
Post by: rich67vw on January 07, 2012, 12:11:42 am
SJVWC folks, I am doing a benefit for Isabelle, a visually impaired 8 year old friend I met right after I got my cornea transplant about 6 years ago. I've committed to her parents that every year I would do something usually very stupid in an effort  to raise funds for the Foundation that reseaches a cure for her disease. I also do these events to get folks aware of our dinner each year; we have a dinner in Blackwood NJ in  October -  I believe this year is October 5th, 2012. Last year, you may remember a certain picture of me floating in the ocean with her in February in a pink costume.
This years event is on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 from 7pm to 9pm at Sports and More in Deptford NJ off of Delsea drive, about 1/4 mile north of the old Five Points diner, now called Seven Star diner. I've petioned the Guiness Book of World Records for acceptance to set the world record for most blind-folded basket ball foul shots in a 5 minute period. $5 admission, with the only item sold are tee-shirts at $10 a piece, where 100 percent of the funds go to the Foundation for Retinal Research.  Try Blindfolded free-thow shooting yourself for a 1 minute trial for 5$ with the help of my support team. We have beet witht he Brass5 from the Philadelphia Freedom band, and we now have the entire facility to have access to things like their tumbling room for the kids 10 and under chaperoned by their volunteers. We are also trying to arrange a guest from the Philadelpia 76ers basketball team.  An auction too. I can tell you there will be Flamingo Poop up for bid! The most important VIP there will be Jackwagen who has volunteered to be the "Official videographer" for the event, called " See the Light at Night". We also have a photograher coming and maybe some other things like a raffle (maybe even some flamingo poop) for some stuff. We are also letting folks try the event for a minute for a nominal 5 buck charge with all proceeds going to the Foundation.

Info will be posted on our website www.isabelleseyes.org shortly about the event once I get a moment to update, but the story of me and her is out there for those to read.

Please help me out for this special kid, We will also have her sing her favorite song, as she has recently recorded a CD because, quite frankly, the kid knows about 200 songs from everything from James Brown, to classical, to rock, to GaGa toanything. I'm expecting a great turnout from folks, as we've has almost 200 folks behind us sometimes...  =+grouphu9

JoeT, this is my organzation that Kathy wanted to attend the dinner last year with her group, so I would appreciate if you can point her to this post.

Thanks for any help you can. I'm planning on adding more stupid stuff that I can think of shortly to that night.

Hmmmm, tuba player... hmmmmm   **^bana0

Sounds like a great cause, and a wonderful little girl MugMan.   Think I might bring Matthew... he's 8 too and I like to show him the various ways of how important it is to give back to people.

Maybe burn the CD she made and sell them too? (or is it already available?)

Tuba player and band in some kind of costumes too?

I'm quite SURE that the SJVWC will show up in full force......  WON'T THEY...

Yes, the guest of honor, Isabelle, will be there doing a live perfomance of her song "Somewhere over the rainbow" with the world renowned quintet Brass5 of the Philadelphia Freedom Band. She also knows lots of Gaga and about 200 other songs. Much thanks to my man Beet for making this happen!

And, another update, I just brought back from the deep tropical rainforests of florida a rare container of the the first batch of Flamingo Poop, circa 2012. Tiis as well as a few other items, will be autioned off.

Stay tuned, way more coming...

Very good idea, Jackwagen - I hope you have a high capccity drive.  I just found out some not very good news about her, so I'm really kickin it into gear for her now.

Her mom and I just came back from the facility. We have volunteers from the facility providing chaperoning for the kids, the face painter is lined up ( She does have r-------M upon request), and we have the entire facility for the evening. There will be a 5 dollar admission charge where everybody has access to most of the entire building.

Stay tuned...more coming...

The eclectic auction items are so far:

A Philly Eagle autographed something or other
One container of prime USDA 2012 Flamingo Poop
A Spirit Of Philadelphia dinner cruise gift certificate
A brand new Cuisinart rice steamer, courtesy of our own KVBug ( much thanks!)
Real Gold earrings, a $300 value, again donated by our own KV Bug ( again much appreciated, KVBug!)

I'm not giving up on an autographed Jackwagen pillow yet, but its like prying a Westerm Omelette out of me, so I understand. #@rofl3

Where else can you get a rice steamer, with Flamingo Poop?

My pillow will even come with directions on the proper way how to use it #@rofl3

Also, I will own the Flamingo Poop by the end of the auction!!!
