So today is Philadelphia Freedom Band's first day back after the holiday concert. We go down stairs of the Church to find that someone broke into the room where the instruments were stored and stole all our marching drums, and various brass and woodwind instruments. One of our members tenor saxophone was also stolen. &(rage_ I'm just a mix of emotions right now. I understand that people do things without thinking, and I really hope whoever stole the instruments used the money for food or shelter or something. We spent so much time fundraising for the new marching drum equipment and now we have to start all over again. Just trying my best to think positive that nobody was injured, and that we are all in good heath. You could tell that everyone was bummed out.

Greg, I'm really sorry to hear that. How awful to open the door to find everything gone. bawlin)0

Thanks KV, It stinks but we will figure something out.
-
Sorry to hear that, Nothing is safe. Can't you take the stuff home with you?
-
Oh, no Greg! That's so awful! Do you think maybe you guys can contact the news? Maybe you can get some donations or leads on replacing the instruments. Someone has to be sitting on some information somewhere...
Best of luck.

In Philly.... someone always knows something ... Great idea Heather! Greg it's a good public interest story.. call the Action News Call for Action or one of the similar groups.
-
I think we are working on it, calling Pawn Shops. I take my instruments home, but a lot of people come to rehearsal on a bus or the subway so bringing a drum with them would just be too much.

Beet, that truly sucks. It really does. Try to look at it this way, that it forces your group to be more determined to go out and recreate the stuff you had. That group effort can be real rewarding and knowing that you all stay together in handling adversity means a lot too.
Peeks and valleys of life. Get through a valley, and their is a peek on the other side.

wow, the theft of instruments is big this year, and in churches too.
-
Greg, did you recover any of your instruments??
-
Not yet, Rumor has it that Occupy Philly will be helping us buy new ones.
-
No foolin? That's pretty neat! Maybe some of those Catholic schools that are closing in Philly will be liquidating some of their band equipment.......
-
The publicity for Isabelles event will help somehow for the good deed you guys are doing.
-
Oh, I never thought about the school liquidations... hmmm
Hope so Rich, you have no idea how happy I was to find out she sings! We also have some gaga in our repitour. that isn't as straight forward as the Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
