Ever drive along and some Jackwagen in front of you throws his Dunkin Donuts coffee cup out the window and you go to hit the windshield washer to clean your windshield and you got nothing? &rant((
VW has that goofy design of using the air pressure off your spare tire to pressurize your washer tank, running an active water tube up into the wiper switch in your steering column. I say my spare tire is used for one thing, that is, getting me home after I have a flat tire. (*driving) Putting an old tube filled with water near an electrical switch is like a busted artery near your brain, and we know that just can't be good. #@rofl3
I ordered this today:

and I'll post pics of the install under the Repairs other section . thumpup)-

Where are you going to put it Mugman?

Where are you going to put it Mugman?
it fits right below the brake fluid reservoir and attaches on a fender nut. Washer tube goes to nozzle and wiring goes to a hot lead on the fuse box to a switch in the dash ( i'll use where cig lighter would go) .Hope Shawn or Jackwagen knows which fuse is hot. Ground to the ground point where speedo lights go to.

very cool might have to get one of these myself.
-
Hmmmm. I'm hoping the dang thing fits a Super Beetle since the upper mounts for the struts might mess up the install :confused04:;
-
And I noticed the 12v one is out of stock..
-
KV, they are both 12V. Researching on the Samba tells me it doesnt fit in a Super Beetle on the inner fender. I'll attach it somewhere else. **read9

cool stuff! i wanna see it installed! then Ill do mine :)

Gotcha... and it really is a good idea.

Why are we not just putting a $10 pump in the line and re-routing a hose? :confused04:;

DYK (did you know) the valve on the washer bottle will only let the tire pressure go down to 17 lbs and then stop. That way you will have some air in the spare if you need it. thumpup)-

IMHO, that's a 40 year old valve that wears out. Even when the car was new, vw manual said to check the spare tire pressure every other fillip in the owners manual. Just sayin......
-
My cap is shot and you need to vent through it.
-
I thought you vented through Mike> #@rofl3

Speaking of windshield washers...... does the bottle actually bolt/connect to the spare, or do the plugs just fit through the hole and it sits there? Doesn't seem to be secure without some type of connection...

The nubs fit through the lug nut holes in the tire and there is two wedges that go through tthe holes in the nubs to hold the bottle in place.
-
Ahhh... I have no wedges. Guess I'll have to look at it and improvise.
-
The old ones that use the tire pressure just slip in that holder. The new Mexi-beetle ones that have the electric pump bolt on the fenderbolt on the right side. Except for the Super Beetle, which I'll hang off the metal panel on the dashboard firewall that covers the electric fan. thumpup)-
I'll post pictures when I install once it gets delivered all the way from California

You have one wedge. Its on the carpet in the trunk. Looks like a little black Nike swoosh #@rofl3

Wish someone had mentioned that to me when I picked up the car. I believe it's long gone with the whole spare tire issue we're having....... ?/banghea?/ doh.gif
Oh well... back to improvising...
