Title: OK Mentors... No wise cracks
Post by: Baha (Shawn) on October 02, 2012, 06:34:35 PM
Please save your "Chrome don't get you home" and other wise cracks for AFTER I get it fixed  #banghead

I wanted to convert the Super to alternator so I bought a conversion kit

I got a chrome alternator ONLY because the kit was on clearance and was $50 cheaper than raw.

Any how this thing is kickin the spit out of me.

The Blue star shows the clearance issue with the accelerator pump linkage

The Yellow star shows the spacer that was the right height but the wrong size

The Red star shows the supposed "correct" spacer for the job... It fits the manifold/carb but is not high enough for the linkage to clear

It's been 2 weeks of waiting for parts and being dis-appointed

What don't I know or am I doing wrong?

Why don't the tall one fit?

Is this the one that don't fit and why? http://www.ebay.com/itm/EMPI-3245-VW-BUG-CARB-ADAPTOR-KIT-/120442231894?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1c0aea9c56

It looks like you need the same height adapter sized to fit a PICT 34 carb. The adapter marked yellow must be for a 28/30 carb.  %$oldcit
Easy peasy  thumpup)-

From that link "Spaces up stock Solex/Brosol 28/30 Carburetor. Adaptor is 1" thick and hole to hole measures 2 1/8"."

Bob is correct

Problem is they dont make a spacer for the 34 PICT thicker than 3/8" & you cant stack 'em without changing stud length

Since I have the attention of two of the Masters, I think I have found the answer.

Alternator Carb has a different accelerator linkage. The boys on the samba "Flip" it

What mine looks like now....

I thought there was something you could do with the linkage but just couldn't think of it. Yes, flip.
