Title: Sandy
Post by: kvbug (karen) on October 27, 2012, 05:56:50 PM
Hope you've all been making preparations for Sandy's arrival,  and that you and your families will be safe throughout the duration of the event.

Take care, be safe, and we'll catch up after things settle down again.

Make sure your convert tops are up everyone - those having them, others, make sure your windows are up!,

Bob still has the garage until Nov, so he is  40sleep3 warm and dry!

Tomorrow, will be neat to see the Brandwine river that is near me, so much will be flooded out!

Howard, you didn't evacuate?!

Very uneventful here so far, I just dread the high winds tonight and my trees staying upright. One took out both cars and part of the house during one storm. afraid%

Doc. you better put sonny on blocks or drill a hole in each floor to let the water drain out as the flood recedes.

We're having some pretty fierce winds here, but I'm up on a hill with no trees  so we're wide open to Mother Nature's wrath.   Can see sheets of rain blowing across the yard. Not complaining though, because the people at the shore are really getting hammered already and we haven't even gotten to the worst of it.

Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers that you, your families, and your VWs stay safe!  =+grouphu9

I put everything away that could be put away. I parked the Syncro in front of the solar panels to protect them.

Strapped Marc's Super to the scaffold cart, and tied the tarps tight against the body

Cleaned all the gutters and attched the 10' pipe extensions

We just heard a loud crash. A big branch came down and bounced off the Syncro & hit the solar panels   #@rofl3

Another dent to fix on the Syncro, but the solar panels survived. Good Plan!  **^bana0   good grief  #banghead

We made it unscathed and I think my son pinned it down to we were right in  the path of the eye  and all the damage was south and north of the eye, lucky for us.

It did get very calm here around 10 pm last night and the worst that happened was the cover came partly off my sons car. :jump4jo":

I hope everyone made it through without loss to property and yourself.

I think the real travesty is that there is a cover on his car already. Drive that thing!

All's well here in Turnersville. Dead branches all over. The ones that hit the roof were scary, but no damage done. I think we really lucked out compared to other locals. Our electric went out from about 8:00 to Midnight. We were prepared with lots of camp laterns and propane.

Big tree snapped in half, took out a chunk of fence. That & "The solar panel incident" as it is now known.

Very thankful. Could have really been ugly

I know that a few members can't get on the clubs website due to continued power outages. I'm sure there are several others out there also.

Just got power back on a couple of hours ago, although no cable, internet, or phone. Have this archaic wireless card to get online thankfully.   No damage to the house, except for a couple of screens flying off.  Sophia stayed safe and sound in the garage.  We had the T@b hitched to the 8 million pound dually, so she didn't blow/roll away.

I feel very thankful that we didn't sustain the damage many people directly at the shore did.  I was well prepared for losing electricity,  and since we lose water too (have a well)  the tubs were filled.  Had camping equipment (battery powered lights, stove, enamel percolator, battery radio/charger) in full use.

My heart goes out to any of you who had damage. Let us know if we can help in any way.   =+grouphu9

Ruby has been keeping good thoughts for Sonny!  Not even flood waters can keep a good guy down long!  *9rain) She has also scootched over to make room in the garage!  Here's hoping the island access is granted to you soon!

Seriously, we love you and are keeping our tires crossed!

A tree came down and destroyed my my wheelchair ramp. Lost power, gas (called 911 when the gas meter blew a hole in it) and Comcast triple play on 10/29, got it back on 11/09. The only heat was from the Mr. heater. That heater was well worth the money. I used 12 1 lb LP tanks for the nights. Every hotel in the area was sold out. I can't remember who bought the Mr. Heater, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

They came and replaced my ramp yesterday . The first thing I did was go to Howell and check on my trike. The garage is in great shape. :jump4jo": The trike, well no gas going to the filter ( tank full) and I don't know why.  #banghead Does anybody know the best way to check the fuel pump if it is the pump.

Well that's my story. I hope everybody is safe. I know it was bad. I have a couple of friends that lost everything, but homes and cars can be replaced. Love ones and friend can never be replaced.

Glad you made it through OK. Now make sure you order (or pickup) the hose that goes to a 20lb cylinder for your Mr Heater. It'll run for a week.

BTW 3Gear got us the heaters

Lucky guy!

BIG tree limb landed on Bob's usual squatting place, but pulled some authority and he was safe and sound in the garage!     thumpup)-  .... Power was out a few days, had our wood stove keep us warm, cooked our food on it, and heated the clothes iron on it to iron my clothes - hey, have to keep up my public image y'know.

Lots of trees down, but no real damage, sorry some suffered a bit  with the storm.......
