Title: NEVER USE THE MAJIC ERASER ON YOUR FACE
Post by: VWPANZER1 on April 09, 2013, 07:40:58 pm
No matter how careful I am, what kind of hats I wear and how carefully I tape rubber gloves to my throw away shirts, I still get Por-15 on me. It's the paint that hunts humans. It seeks out covered or uncovered flesh like it has a mind of its own.

The dreaded job that I put off all winter, I finally finished. All the exposed metal under the front undercarriage and firewall on the Porsche are now done, but at what cost? When I finished, I had paint on my; hands, wrists, lips, nose, forehead, eyebrows, checks and in my hair. If you don't get it off fast, you're stuck with black tattoo's for weeks. First was the acetone. But that works only marginally once the stuff is dry and Por-15 dries fast on human skin. Besides you don't really want acetone on your skin or in your lungs.

Then, I saw-the 'Majic Eraser' with the bathroom supplies. For you who don't know about the 'Majic Eraser, it's one of the best household and garage item to come down the pike in a long time. It will take ink off a wall, side-swiped paint off your car without hurting the factory finish (only if you're careful), etc, etc.

It's a white spong like square, smooth as silk, that's the deceiving part. It took the paint off on my face like crazy, Wow, what a find! -NOT. It also removed the first layer of skin with initially no discomfort. However in a few minutes my face was burning. In the mirror I looked like I stood over the pressure cooker when it exploded.

Sorry -no pictures.

Maybe there should be a disclaimer on the package (for stupid people like me) -DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT ON HUMAN SKIN?

I said it wasn't a smart move although it seemed like a good idea at the time.

However it's not just a bathroom cleaner, (great for getting water spots off the chrome fixtures) -But I keep them all over the garage and in my detail kit. The stuff is great on aluminum, especeally mag wheels. Great for getting the rust off of chrome without scratching the chrome. Think of it as 2000 grit wet and dry.
