I hope u guys attend this event considering that its one of the BEST  growing VW event in the northeast. Year after year sjvwc has been going to this with less members participating. The camping has been growing more n more! I tried to come up for this but i still haven't got a job. I hope u guys attend and regain the Klub Kompetion trophy!

Tracy and I are camping... And since Eeyore is water-cooled, and can't be shown,
Jack won't be alone when he wants to go home early

For those new to "The All Air Cooled Gathering" aka Flanders (Flanders is the town}.

The facility is the Swim & Sports Club of Flanders. A beautiful facility founded built by German immigrants in the 20's centered around a giant swimming pool that is filled and filtered by the stream that runs next to it! (Sorry, im geeking out) In addition to the pool there are  huge grass athletic fields that host around 400 air cooled cars reminiscent of the Pebble Beach Concourse show. http://www.swimandsportclub.org/

The clubhouse/ballroom reminds me of a Catskills Resort with its highly polished dance floor. There's a bar and a kitchen.

We head up Saturday and set up camp in the parking lot ( a huge grass field surrounded by pines)
For dinner, the Kitchen is open and the prices are more than reasonable, so if you'd rather not cook, you don't have to worry about spending a fortune to eat. There are restrooms right in the camping area as well as the clubhouse.

Saturday night there's a large group campfire and its all very family oriented while up at the clubhouse the bars open and there's usually a live band.

Sunday the kitchen opens at like 6:00 AM for breakfast, and they feed you like you're going to the electric chair! Hot coffee & big breakfast....great way to start a great day. The cars start rolling in and its amazing how fast that huge field fills up. VW's Porsches, BMW Isettas. Corvairs, subaru 360' and even an occasional Messerschmit or other aircooled curiosity like a VW powered motorcycle

There's valve cover racing, and kids activities. Tons of amazing door prizes a Dub Push (where we will try to regain the coveted "Mr Pushme" trophy). There's tons of food available all day long from the kitchen and the outdoor grills. This is the best show of the season. Tons of awesome cars, surrounded on 3 sides by vendors. The SSC folks treat you like family and go out of there way to make sure you have a good time and the hosts, Central Jersey VW Society do a fantastic job of making sure it all comes off flawlessly (months of planning and a huge team of dedicated people make it look easy, but they work their butts off)

The worst AACG I've ever attended is still better than the best of any other show Ive been to. Where else are you going to see 5 ovals side by side, and hear the iconic "Voice of VW Drag Racing"- Dyno Don Chamberlin  calling the events...

When and where do you meet to drive up there?

Do you have to pre-register to camp or just show up?

How much is it to camp?

How much is it to get into the event?

I don't have a smart phone, so my internet is very Apple IIe esque when I'm at work, and most websites won't load, or they crash my phone and say insuficcient memory.

Maybe my friend Tank, but I don't know if he would go, and he is hard to get a hold of. He's 6'5" somewhere north of 300lbs. He came to watch cars at the last Belleplain campout.
I would also love to be part of the trophy team.

I only wanted to go for the camping and the Dub Push, so who's going?
We probably won't go either if there isn't enough people to push the dub.

We should change this thread to dogpile-on-the-rabbit.

I am porting a new phone system at work Saturday so we're out too.

Yeah, probably wasn't the best for us either. So I'm not terribly disappointed about missing it, although I really was looking forward to the Dub Push. I need an oil change too. I'm really glad I found out nobody was going before we drove up there. I will use the money I'm saving on fuel and stuff to buy more camping stuff that I want. I want a front porch and the small Kelty basecamp kitchen by Belleplain.

We are going to camp by the fire pit in our backyard tonight if anyone wants to come hang out in Pennsville.

Yea,   although I really planned for this, and am a rain diehard.....  the apparent storms would be a little much for tent camping, so Katie and I wont be able to make it.... Such a shame for all the weather we've been having for quite a while, then this shows up.... *9rain)  Such bad timing!

You did not choose wisely, the rain came in late on Saturday and was gone by 2am. No significant wind. It didn't dampen the spirits for the 150 or so folks who did show to camp. The party in the clubhouse was a bit more lively and by the next morning the ground was dry and the skies were clear and blue. We had another great show. Mark your calendars for next year, it'll be our 10th anniversary and it's gonna be the best Gathering yet.
