That's the plan....
There will be stops along the way, every day. Lincoln's tomb is just the first one mentioned
Speaking of which. Start searching the web for sites to see along the route

Hey All,
I was there at Jacks Babes Place and The Rusty Bolt in August this year. We went on a Motor Coach (BUS) Trip through 8 states and the National Parks. We started in Colorado and ended in Vegas. We traveled on a little strip of Route 66. I got a few picts and souvenirs. It was cool. I had to tell the store keepers what cars they had on display. Go figure. Some were slightly modified which confused the non car guys and gals. %$oldcit

Random thoughts...
We will need at least 2 Laundromat stops- I will check the KOA's
Dehydrated food & MRE's are the same price as fast food... Unbelievable
Ice will need to be purchased..Probably every-other day (or every third day)
Are we stopping, every day, for lunch? Are we buying, or preparing it?
Are we preparing Dinner upon arrival at the campsite, every night?
The KOA in Eureka MO is on Six Flags Rd.... Hmmmmm

Last resort or perhaps even more so...
I vote for the Ever Popular "WallyWorld" aka Wallmart Super Centers.
Where we can replenish our needs everything from automotive to there Hot Meals..
And don't forget it's always open and a Safe "Freebie" Stay over nighter.
Besides there are usually other food stores etc example Fuel, Food like Wendy's, iHop, Waffle House, etc on the premises or close by.. thumpup)-

You da man....
Walmart Super Centers Campgrounds!

Not all Walmarts allow overnight parking. Here's a guide to the NO park Walmart's:

Nice find KV!
Zoom out a little

Yes, that's where I went first, and then fine tuned to the no parking list..

Dry ice under a thick bed of regular ice in a cooler, will keep things cold for a long, long time. Years ago at Flanders, Katie's hoagie was too close to the dry ice, and by lunch the whole sandwich became a weapon by turning rock solid. Took a few hours in the summer sun to thaw it out........

Or you could have just played field hockey, or beat off the young boys who were talking to her with it.. #@rofl3
-
Yes, there is that.....

Yeah good luck with that... She has a 55 Beetle... You're screwed

I wish they had a You Can Park list. that no parking list looks like every store in the US/

Trust me that listing is only a small part of the WallyFarts across the Country. And take note many of those are in and around the larger Cities, and in the Warmer seasonal States. Case in point I checked that listing against several of the Wallmarts in S.J and we'll not listed on there. Since the downturn of the economy and many people homeless more and more have turned to life on the road they are known by many names "Bare naked, Rootless" etc. or AKA Road gypsies.. This has become a big problem in the Southern States, and So-Cal.. Heck come Dec-April you won't be able to fit another motor home into Southern Florida. It's a new way of life and for many who are Living the Dream it works well for them. Many are actually Techies kind of working from Home but on the Go. Most of these are the larger motorhomes, but many doing it in a VW camper.
There are actually websites devoted to this couture and life on the move. And it's a growing community. Actually really not much different then the cross Country Truckers, and if it's fair for the goose, it's fair for the gander.
But in our case we'll merely passing though and won't be wearing out our welcome.
Trust, me. I've been on the road enough to know that it's really not going to be an issue for us to overnight in these locations. Don't forget that States also have Highway Rest stops, with nice accommodations, or the ever popular Free Petro's, Stuckies, 76, etc interstate Truck rest stops.
Some info here.. Plus a ton of info on the net.. yaygif

Generally you just check with the store manager to get their okay, and do a little shopping in their store to keep them happy =wink=
Btw If I went, I'd be taking my motorhome, not my bug.. lol

Hey what's going on with this Trip...
We still on, or postponed till later this year? :confused04:;
I need to know to get my "RRR" Rig Road Ready...
.
-
Right now it is postponed, gota get refitted with updated parts and get some miles on the Van to see how it is. Looks like it will be just me making the trip unless I can talk JoAnn into going with me. It's not looking good for this summer so far.
