Are you kidding? You learned nothing? (http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/yoda.gif)
First, order the POR15 kit. Get the slowest, cheapest shipping
Vinegar is 1.00 a gallon. Put the tank in a plastic tub (or bag) and fill it full of vinegar. (the tank, not the tub)
Wait for POR15 kit to arrive

I did. But just lookin for all or any input.

throw a heavy duty chain in there and shake it side to side.
it will get the chunkier rust out.
the three step por 15 treatment works very well.

Hmmmm WOW thats great advice Paul!
He didn't trust it coming from me... Maybe the exact same advice coming from a "Next Level" restoration specialist such as yourself will have more impact.

Don from Don's Volks Tech told me to put the chain in the tank, and put it in your trunk and drive around with it for a while.
-
what? the chain or the tank?
I think Don was pulling your chain. byeby.,
-
He said pull the tank from your VW.
Put a chain in the tank. Then put the tank with the chain in it in the back of your daily driver and drive around with it for a few days to break the rust up before you put the chemicals in to coat it.

Getting more ideas is always a good thing.
POR 3 stage gas tank kit works well, I have had success using it.
Chain in tank is also a good idea😃

Yep, Good Stuff. thumpup)-
Por15 Gas Tank Sealer is probably the Best'est Sealer I've ever used..
Your going to have to get most of the Rust etc you can out of the Tank 1st..
I use some muriatic acid water and a hand full or drive way stone..
Seal off all openings, and shake and slosh the tank around tuning it in different directions, let sit and repeat shake several times.
Hose out and try to drain / remove contents. The stones will fall back out of the filler cap just shake. Wear some rubber gloves or safety goggles.
Rinse with water and let dry in the warm sun.
Rinse again with some acid tone. Let dray again.
Then seal off all holes except for fuel fill and add the por tanks sealer.. your need to keep rotating the tank so that your sure that the sealer has covered all inside surfaces. This stuff is great, but will actually close your drain and vent ports so your need to keep watch that there not getting clogged. If that does happen simply chase them with the proper size drill bit.

The por15 kit comes with the acid & the neutralizer...
The vinegar has done a great job on the bottom....Just needs to do the top the same way

Considering my time and cost of everything to seal an old tank, I would buy new.

Nap time has a cost too. #@rofl3
Id agree even though a nice Chinese new tank made out of Reynolds Wrap aluminum should last a solid three to five years.
